Hiya!
Weekend's over, BF's gone home and I'm back to my reading routines. I finished Deja Dead this afternoon and it was great! Especially after I had figured there's no Booth and you had confirmed that. There was a real twist in the end and a lot of action which I hadn't expected for a debut Tempe book, so it was good
I also got real lucky: I was in the library just now getting a book that had arrived for me and I noticed Death Du Jour in the returned today -shelves. I had reserved it but somehow it had slipped through the staff to the normal shelves and it could've gone to some stranger! Even though I was the next in line! I'm glad I happened to be there and I snatched it for myself
Didn't have to pay the Euro either because I found it on my own
How long has it been since you read the Tempe books, the earlier ones? If you've sorta forgotten the plotline you may as well read them again! I'm going to do that with Scarpetta novels myself, but I'm not sure when now that I found Reichs's books...
Why aren't you able to drive? Have I missed something?
Oh and by the way, still hunting for the Dexter books?
I gotta go now, America's Next Top Model is waiting for me in my dear telly

But why does he have to live in Minnesota? The plane tickets must cost like a fortune for you and besides what's in Minnesota? He could be more considerate and move at least to New York or something like that if he has to live in the US. You're lucky btw that he's not bad to look at. Oh my, I was going to google for an ugly male writer for comparison but then realised how superficial and mean that would be

I've heard good things about Erlend Loe in so many other forums but for some reason I've never given his books a try. I think Fakta om Finland sounds interesting, I'll add that to my TBR
It's great to have someone in here who also reads Finnish and other nordic novels, I've been neglecting that area of literature for a while now and it would be nice to get reacquinted with it!
Yep, first step down, eleven to go ...

Oh silly me, I thought urban distopia was a literature course
That course you're doing sounds really interesting, and so does your idea! I think utopia/distopia is a really fascinating subject matter. Like you said about Celebration, on the surface it is or might be a lot of peoples idea of utopia and even an ideal way to live but when you dig deeper and look at things from a different perspective there's a whole other story. Good luck with the paper, I think you're going to have fun writing it. Just remember to log off from BCF when writing, otherwise you'll just keep posting here and reading other peoples latest posts

Thanks for the info, I'll see if Knots and Crosses is available in my library!
You're so lucky to have met a writer whose work you enjoy so much! That's not very likely to happen to me, as I mostly read foreign novels and foreign writers don't tend to visit Finland

Now, if I were to say that your latest avatar reminds me of a mooncup, could I persuade you to choose the next one from some of your dog pics?
Nope, the new avatar is quite safe
I love the colours and it's really dreamy. I also like that picture in your signature, I actually prefer that one.
How was your weekend? I had a great one with BF, we made 8 pizzas (we sometimes go a little crazy with food) and watched movies and went to sauna. Next weekend I'm going to visit him. He actually got some great news this Monday, he gets to have his own little student appartment! No more awkward bumping into roommates!
I'm so excited

Oh, I'm sorry about that spine operation, that can't have been nice. Are you okay now though? I hope so. Five weeks is a long time
Losing your mojo is a real bummer, I hate it when that happens. You go through your shelves and pick up books, put them aside, then start some of them but nothing engages you long enough. It can get really frustrating. Hopefully you'll recover soon! Sometimes going back to your favorite books or your childhood/teenage reads might help? By the way, I think your OH should be courteous enough to make a few trips to the library or book shops to get you something that might get you going again, now that you can't do that
I've also noticed that after I joined BFC I read the forum more often than a book. I had to make a conscious decision to grab a book rather than spend all that time on the computer and I've made some progress now

No problem
If Swedish were my mother tongue I'd be very tempted to order the Swedish versions because they are just so awfully cheap. I don't know how they afford so cheap books, the Finnish and English ones are so pricey compared to them.

Hello Charm!
Thanks for popping in luv
I'm good, how are you? BF's in town so I don't want to start answering PMs because I know I'd get easily interrupted at some point
I'm just popping in every now and then to see what people are talking about in here.
Thank you Charlaine Harris for your books, they take good care of Charm now that she's read all there is to Twilight!! (Man you were quick!!
)
Have a happy lovely Monday

Hello!
Nice to hear your outing went well
Too bad about the weather but like you said there was that gazebo and patio heater so things could have been worse. Don't worry about possible overeating part, you can make up for that next week
Our dieting doesn't mean that we have to abstain from everything all the time! It sounds like you had a great time so it was worth it
What's up with that son of yours? You'd think he'd be in his best behavior so he'd get to stay home alone.
I bet it's just a teen thing like you said, but still, it doesn't sound very nice. I hope he'll come around soon!
You should make time for yourself to visit your fave charityshops soon, it's not good for the soul to stop going there for so long!! The shopkeepers might become worried as well and we don't want that. I'm really looking forward to the charityshops and secondhand bookshops, there are so many of them in Lahti and Helsinki.
