  1. Yep, the party went well and people seemed to have fun so it was okay :)

And I can totally relate to your cooking for your partner for the first time, that is so scary! I'm glad it went okay and he liked it :) I bet you'll be more comfortable the next time you cook for him.

I never really learnt how to cook when I was still living at home with my parents because they were always too eager to give me advice and I always took it to mean that I don't know how to do anything myself  So I never liked cooking. And now I have a BF that's a really great cook and used to doing the cooking so I never really have to cook for him, and I'd be terrified to cook for him now. Why oh why does one have to feel so insecure :irked:

  2. Yes I was the first to read Dexter but you are the one doing all the promoting! I'm really happy about that :D And if I remember correctly, I didn't suggest Dexter to you, it was you who asked me if it was any good, then I did my recommendation bit. Sometimes I wish I'd manage to write reviews on my blog so people would have a chance to get into the books I read (like you do, for example) but I think I'm just too lazy.

Awww that was truly nice from Ceinwenn to do that :smile2: Like I've said before, I will never stopped being amazed and surprised at how wonderful, warm people there are here in BCF.

Do you mean those special groups? I don't know anything about them, I've steered clear of them so far so I don't how they work. 3 seems like a small group though, I don't know. But there are a couple of people who are reading their first Dexter or wanting to read it soon, so I'm thinking there might be more people eventually...

  3. Yes it's very addictive! That might become a problem when uni starts in a couple of weeks :P

By the way, that's a really nice photo, and it's great to see the face behind the nick :)

  4. Yes you're lucky, you definitely haven't missed a thing! Hardcore/crust punk! I have no idea what that is and I'm sorry to admit that I definitely don't like punk. And I had no idea we had any internationally known punk bands! Do you like any other kind of music? I usually go for the rock/metal thing.

Oh it would be great if you could get a night off, I'm sure your parents would love to watch your kids, grandparents usually adore their grandchildren and don't mind watching them ;) Mums do need some time off for themselves so they're energised after that and can be better Mums, that's what I think! :)

    Catch you later!

    xo, frankie

  5. frankie

Yes, we should do this again sometime!

  6. You can laugh all you want, I know this is quite amusing :) Of course we have no kitchen paper, BF doesn't believe in that kinda luxury. I have some Kleenex with me, I might have to use that although that's not something that should be put in the toilet :( I'm not going to use books, you can rest assured!!! Where did you even get the idea?? :motz::lol:

Actually, I've been waiting till I'm strong enough because I've been wanting to write to you about our Christmas, it's been really awful but the details are amusing if you don't have to live through it yourself. I also made BF take a picture of his livingroom/kitchen so I could show you. You'll be horrified of the mess. I certainly hate it!

Now you go on and have fun, and give my love to Rachel and Piper. I'll see you next year luv

  7. You know all those little icons above the place where you write you message? Like B for bold, U for underline and so one? There's an S in a yellow box, that's for spoilers. Copypaste the line that contains the spoiler and press that S. And don't worry too much, these things happen sometimes :) (It's amazing that there still are people who don't know how HP books end!)

I'm afraid I've dissed that T-shirt so much that he knows it's me if the T-shirt's gone. I might have to involve other people in my plans

  8. You ordered the Twilight books?? Weren't you supposed to stay off the band wagon with this one?? Now why'd you go and watch that movie and go to the other side!!

Well, in the future if books that you're not planning on ordering fall into your basket on amazon you can cancel them. It's very easy! Do you want me to do it for you if you don't know how? :tong:

So it's true, you and Ceinwenn started the 3rd Dex book. What's that like... I really really don't blame you. I'm not reading as quick as I used to and you would still be waiting for me to finish if you hadn't just gone on and started with it. I hope I get to it soon myself and we can compare notes :D

I said this in my thread but I'm going to say it here as well: That 4 lbs is an amazing result and I'm damn proud of you :smile2: It's 6 lbs in 2 weeks!! Keep it up girl :friends0:

  9. You'd make a great library book technician  That Fablon thing's the one I'm after. What's the verb? I mean how do I say that a paperback is covered with Fablon?

Aaaa **** now I remembered the word I was after. Laminated!!! (Certainly not illuminated like I almost suggested :D) Do you use that word for that meaning? At least in The Frends episode where Ross&Rachel had made a deal they both could make a list of five people (celebs) they were allowed to sleep with if they had the actual chance to do it. And Ross actually had that list printed and _laminated_.:lol:

  10. You'll never be able to make me totally organised eventhough you managed it with the Christmas pressies  But you can sure try, I could use a little push every now and then with my studies.... *whistles*

I bet you're done with the Mon&Tue cleaning already. Now that is scary. We still have to buy the ham and all the food but that's okay since there's only the two of us. We're going right after I've finished my coffee (and posting on this forum, but don't tell that to BF :lol:). The place needs a little vacuuming too but that'll be quick as it's a small student apartment. And wrapping the presents but that's just pure fun :)

But you're lucky, you have Wednesday as well to finish the cooking and everything, here in Finland we start celebrating at Christmas Eve, that's when we open our presents.

  11. Your brother sounds great, just about the best there could be. It must be so great to actually have a brother you're really close to and not just by obligation but because you really get along. It's kinda funny, I never understood my friend who's really close to his brother and she never really gets how I'm not. Like it just doesn't make any sense in my head that something like that could actually happen in the world.

I agree, just because people share blood they don't have to socialise if they don't want to. I just wish other people would understand this too and try not to make others feel guilty for not loving their relatives. I think it's so stupid to maintain the traditions and family gatherings even if everyone knows no one's enjoying them. People should just mind their own business and leave other people to choose who they want to spend their time with!! I'm glad that you had the courage to "break up" with your OH's family because it was obviously good for you.

  12. Your family and your 5 year old niece adoring him means that he's definitely a keeper. And he must be good with kids if she likes him that much! Which leads to me thinking that he'll come around to having a baby sooner or later. Just you wait :)

Oooh I saw Sarapepparkaka's message, I knew you were a Sweden fan but didn't know you spoke Swedish! Where did you learn that? Do you also support the Swedish team in icehockey during the world championships?? I hate it when they win over Finland, although I have to admit that they're damn good and I don't mind them winning over USA.

  13. frankie

Your grandmother sure sounds like a character :) Yeah it might be confusing too, I didn't think of that. Especially so as your parents are both from different countries. I mean that's three languages and cultures, I was impressed already with the idea of two!

Yes I read in English too. For some unknown reason all of the books that I've read since I've joined have happened to be in English. Next time I read something in Finnish I'll probably name the title in English and add the Finnish title in parenthesis or something.

  14. Your last post just proved how great a subject you picked for your paper! Disney truly sounds like a nazi dictator. And yet it's most known for the children's books and films... really controversial stuff!

I've been reading about reading but I've also been a good girl and actually read books! :smile2: I just finished Little Women by Louisa M. Alcott (my first time!) and I immediately started the sequal Good Wives. I've avoided Little women before because I can't stand Winona Ryder (she's in the movie) but I decided not to let that bother me anymore because I wanted to read the book. It was very good!

How about you, still on Anansi Boys?

  15. Your taking a bath sounds like rocket science  You like it hot but you cannot cope with going into the tub when it's hot already. I understand what you're saying but sounds complicated! I think you'd like saunas :) Your answer didn't actually answer my question though! When you're doing the actual reading, where do you keep the book? In your hands? I don't think I'd like to chance that, I'm clumsy and I'd drop the book in no time!

I didn't get my bath today though. It's in a horrific condition my friend tells me, and she wants to scrub it good and clean before she's going to use it/let me use it. She's real nice to let me use her tub, although she has no choice because I'm letting her use my washing machine during the summer (she couldn't fit hers in the new appartment and had to sell it, and there are no common laundry rooms with washing machines in her new building). I'm also going to let her use my sauna turn when I'm not in town so I think we're even :)

... once I figure out how it's done, omg lol.

  17. ... the 'i' is short in my name. Also, the 'r' is pronounced in a different way, we roll it a lot more. Let me see if I can attach a link to this message, there's a woman pronouncing different Finnish consonants. http://www.youtube.com/watch#!v=m160nIWKbzM&feature=related

  18. ... The only problem is that I could easily write 10 pages about it but I'm limited to 2-3 pages :((( What BS!!

  19. "Which book would you take with you on a deserted island, frankie?" -"Well the BCF chat room of course!"

  20. (haha, I told BF that you found our toiletpaper dilemma amusing and he said that maybe Charm would like to lend us Piper to wipe our bottoms with? I've told him about Piper's cow poo parties and of course he had to make a joke of it :giggle:)

  21. (oh why do these messages get cut in the middle?)... that it's your dialect. I like it! :) I had figured that you must've meant 'hun' by 'hen', I know you're not the kind of person who'd call someone a chicken :D

  22. (wow, somebody ate the rest of my message!) get up and out, I didn't hear you at all! The birdies woke me up at 5 AM but then I slept right till 8 AM. The house seems empty without you :)

  23. ~ This is where previously lay my reply to Charm. May thou be happy where thou now roameth ~

  24. 4 stone?? That's really well done Charm! :clapping: You know it's not your fault if you have put on a little bit of weight since the operation, because you were supposed to be passive and rest. So I hope you don't feel guilty because there's no reason for that. And what's best, obviously you know how to lose weight because you've done it already so there's no stopping you now :) Plus, it's always easier if you have a goal and your OH's 40th is definitely a good one.
