  1. What, you forgot a book thing! (Even though it's just posting a pic -bookthing) Tut tut! I'm gonna go and see if you've done it yet :) I hope your boss doesn't know that you're on BCF during office hours :giggle: I'm not gonna tell! Do your work mates now about your book obsession? No wait of course they do, let me rephrase: Do they know about BCF and are the bookish people themselves? :)

6 books waiting to be delivered... Choose being excited, of course  Why would you want to be annoyed!

Hm there was some other thing I wanted to tell you as well but I forgot what it was. Maybe it'll come back to me later. Have a nice evening :D

  2. Woooot, do they count these visitor messages also as messages in the forum? I didn't know that. Wow, one could become a bookworm without discussing books at all!

I think it's quite baffling that you've joined the forum after I did and yet you have more than two times the amount of posts that I have. And still your mount TBR is smaller than mine. No wonder you call your self organised =D

  3. Wow, Vincent van Gogh himself. The painting is really pretty and actually because of it you are probably one of the first members I learnt by name in this forum.

Ha haa, there are never enough of good excuses to watch Gilmore Girls. I'm watching season 7 at the moment (no, that's not a hint and you do have to watch it from the start!), two more episodes till it ends and I'm really curious about Luke and Lorelai. (Not that I haven't seen it before and actually know how it goes, but you know what I mean!)

  4. Wow, wings came out almost black, jeez!

I wanted to say also that the next one is horrid! You'll love it!!

  5. Wow, your BF actually finished a book and enjoyed it!! :D Terry Pratchett works wonders doesn't he. Keep him at it and don't give up! And remember the old saying: the water won't boil any faster if you stare at the kettle. So when he's reading, try not to goggle at him in awe and anticipation!! Good luck!

I've got Maiden's Grave as well, I bought it right after reading Bone Collector and deciding I'll buy anything I can find on Deaver in the charityshops  Well I guess you can read one book on your own, without me reading with you, side by side :tong:

  6. Yay, thanks for sending the books! I'm going to address that in my PM as well :)

I just noticed that it's Kylli's and Kyllikki's name day today here in Finland, and I immediately thought of you, cause it's almost like Kylie :D Happy almost name day my friend <3

  7. Yay, you're here and won't be missing all the action!! We have a cool chat room as well, I'm loving it!

It'll sure take time to get the hang of things but I'm glad it's the weekend so we all have time

I've been great but busy with stuff, how've you been? I've missed you so much as well, it's so nice to be able to hear from yo...

  8. Yeah he has to be really wise+genious+clever to be able to do something like those books. I can't even imagine. It's kinda sexy how dedicated+committed he is to his novels. In a nonsexual way though. If that made any sense

I love the name of the group as well, it's brill  And I never imagined motowning with Deaver like you did!! You have one imaginative, overactive brain

The 1st Dexter book is Darkly Dreaming Dexter. And all them books have words starting with a D so if you think you might be confused by that do write the name down. Even I can't always remember the names. And yep how can we stand not reading Deaver immediately?? I know he has so many books but there are actually only six LR books left for us to read! How do we cope after that!!

  9. Yeah I could get a copy of Neverwhere in English from play.com but it hasn't been such a high priority to me that I would've ordered it already. I'm hoping to get it from the library eventually :)

Believe you me I've been telling my BF to get a move on with Good Omens for so many times with no effect!! He had my Stephen Fry's Hippopotamus for almost a year :irked: I've been thinking about temporarily stealing Good Omens though like you suggested. Maybe I could steal it at the same time I steal his ugly mustard yellow colored T-shirt that he wears too proudly, knowing I hate it ;) (It used to belong to BF's dad but BF's mum hated it and passed it on to my BF. I bet she didn't realise she was passing on her T-shirt problems to me...)

BF's are so much trouble sometimes... But they sure are great have, too :smile2:

  10. Yeah I did think to myself you cannot be as daft as not to get 'stick tit'

I posted in Book Activity thread after I'd messaged you so you couldn't have seen it but it's there now. I'm so pissed off because that one book was in such a bad condition :(

You're right in that we don't get a lot of Australian TV here in Finland, maybe 1-3 shows per year and that's it. At least I think so. But when there were no new America's Next Top Models they decided to show the Canadian and Australian version's, I really liked those shows :) I do remember this one Australian series that was shown when I was a teenager, it was called Heartbreak High and I absolutely loved it :smile2:

I'm enjoying Ladies Detective Agency to a certain point. I'm just a bit confused that there's a lot more going on, it's not like there's this one case per book that gets solved.

  11. Yeah I figured that was the case with your hedgehog :)

Go on, buy a hedgehog! They're even easy to travel with. Then you could report if it was any good :)

  12. Yeah I finally caved in, my friends'll have it easier to contact me. They say they can't get hold of me but I think it's they're own fault, they've stopped using Live Messenger and they Facebook instead :( I'm not gonna get addicted too though, I was already annoyed with the place within 15 minutes of registering!

By the way I'm going to go visit my parents with BF tommorrow and I'll be away for a couple of days. I hope you have a great weekend!! :D

  13. Yeah I know, we should get organised! I was talking about it with Ceinwenn the other day and I think she agrees it would be nice to try to read them together. Nicola might be interested as well but she has the first two to read first. I gotta read them too first because I can't remember anything about them  I've got to finish The Vampire Lestat first, I'm really struggling with it but I'll try my best to finish it today/tommorrow!

Oh yeah and maybe someone should put up the Dexter social group, it might be easier to figure out when we'll read the books there! ;) (I'm not creating it, I've done my fair share of creating new threads today!)

  14. Yeah I thought you might mean some other type of shopping but as it is a book forum of course I had to turn it into a book thing ;) I've been neglecting shopping for new clothes for ages, I've preferred shopping for books =/ I guess it would be good to get back to the clothes shopping mode as it's spring and people are able to see more of me because I cannot just wear my overcoat anymore  Do you have something special in mind? Or are you going to the shops just randomly? It's weird how you always seem to find everything much more easily when you're not looking for anything in particular. The minute you know you have to find something quick it turns out to be impossible and takes forever to find.

I've got no trips planned so far but I do have to go to an English speaking country soon enough to work in order to graduate. You wouldn't happen to know anyone who'd be willing to take me in as their companion, to talk about books for example, and who'd pay money for that? ;)

  15. Yeah I thought you were talking about that bigger dude trying to get on the table, how humiliating was that?? No wonder people were quitting the place left and right.

Oh and it's been so nice having Phyllis do the parties, hers are so much better than Angela's! Toby's going away party was absolutely brilliant! But I felt for Jim, he'd planned the fireworks and was just about to pop the question when idiot Andy happened :(

Actually I've got some further developments about that language exchange, it seems like another friend of mine would be interested in going with me, she was planning on going to UK/Ireland anyway so we can now do it together :D We are now trying to decide where we'd like to go. I told her Newcastle was an option, she sounded interested when I mentioned the pubs and that beautiful place in the town's center, you know the magical nature place. I've totally forgotten the name though, I must look it up so I can show pics for my friend!

  16. Yeah I've noticed the discussion on HP thread. I think you not using a spoiler tag was a newcomer's slip and you did apologise. Even the girl herself said that it was partly her own fault for reading those threads before she's finished the series. I think the discussion that evolved from that was just general discussion on when to use spoiler tags. Don't take it too personally :friends0: Besides, if I had just started reading HP I'd steer clear of any threads that were even the slightest bit related to HP, just in case. Because accidents do happen.

Yep BCF is really addictive and might get in the way of, say, studies... ;) I think there are several stages to becoming an active member. (In no specific order:) there's the mount TBR accumulating, staying on the forum instead of doing housework/homework/etc., and reading the posts on the forum (aka reading about reading) rather than doing actual reading. I think people should be warned about these things when they register. :irked:

  17. Yeah they're both from me. Stupid FB!! Well I did save those messages on my laptop so I suppose I could send them to you on here? The mail was quite lenghty so that's why I had to split it in two. Will probably have to it on here as well. Oh and I realised the system saves my sent messages as well so I can delete them and get more room! I'll try sending the messages right away :)

Yes I'd love to have Piper, there no cow poo in my flat so yay, but that would probably depress her :( I hope you're not really seriously considering giving her up? :( That would make me and Piper sad pandas! Although I do understand that she must be a handful!

  18. Yep BF coud've staid here till I got a bit better! He was very selfish not to stay but to leave instead to go to his friend's stagnight :tong:

Sorry to hear about your hubby being sick, vomiting is one of the worst kinds of flus. :( I hope he gets better soon and I hope you others won't catch it! We people tend to remember what we've eaten during the day, we don't need to see our meals coming back up in reverse order

Yeah you did mention my need to redecorate and it left me confused. My prof page? Or what? Surely not my avatar??

  19. Yep Finland is an okay place to visit, I've already convinced Nicola to come and visit though she was pretty willing even before I made my points  You are quite welcome to visit as well and my crib's door is always open for you :) I think you'd enjoy the sauna and the nightless nights in the summer (summer's definitely the best time to visit unless you're totally into snow and winter activities). You'll find that Finns are quite a nice and friendly folk and they are particularly nice after a couple of pints which gives them the courage to speak English :P Too bad your kids can't grow up any faster so we'll have to wait =/ :)

Good thing you mentioned Erica Spindler, did you hear that I didn't find any of her books in the library or the bookshop? :irked: I'll keep my eyes open for her books during my bookshop tour!

By the way, I'm probably going to forget about Mon weigh in so don't worry, be happy

I should go to bed now, goodnight luv! :friends0:

  20. Yep I did a little wikipedia on Tess Gerritsen and found out about the Rizolli/Isles-series. And I'm lucky I got The Surgeon because it starts the whole series. I'm also really keen on the Body Double, somebody somewhere a few years ago raved about it and I already wanted to read it back then. Have you read any of the stand alone medical thrillers? I'm not sure if they're really my cup of tea, the jargon might be a bit difficult (at least if I read in English) and I really don't do hospitals?

Yep I noticed you've been reading Booky Wook, I don't know that guy but he looks cute? Must be from the music industry then :) Oooh you've started Dexter! I'm definitely keeping my fingers crossed with that one! I'd so much like for you to enjoy it, and get your mojo back at the same time. Play.com seems to offer many Dexter books ;)

  21. Yep my TBR includes my wish list. I don't know why it shouldn't, because they're all book that are To Be Read, IMO :) That's why I'm always so confused when people talk about their TBR and wish list, as if they were a separate thing :tong: Each to their own aye? :)

But wow to think your TBR of 460 actually means the books you own but haven't read yet :eek2: I'm in awe. And I mean in a good way. I think you said something about this in your PM to me, I have thoughts on it but won't express them here, I'll answer in a PM.

Don't take this the wrong way because I mean it in the most positive way there is: I bow to the master!!

  22. Yep some people do keep hedgehogs as pets. But one cannot take a hegdehog from the wild and keep him, that's illegal. But at least here there are four different kinds of hedgehogs which are sold as pets in the petstores. I think they're cute! They're a bit pricy, and at the moment they live for only 5-6 years. And they are definitely recommended to nocturnal people, because they are more active in the night-time.

Do people keep hedgehogs as pets?? I had a 'pet' one once, hibernating in my back garden!

  23. Yep the financial stress definitely didn't help, but now I know I'll be financially safe til autumn so that's great. Another thing that bummed me out was that my psychologist retired, she warned me two months beforehand but that felt really sudden to me at that moment. I knew I was getting another shrink but that didn't really help because I didn't know if I'd get along with the new one. But now I've met her and I think it'll be fine. And I'm glad that you were sorted out as well :friends0: It's amazing how many people there are on the forum who suffer/have suffered from depression, but then again, it shouldn't be that weird because it's actually quite common.

There's nothing wrong with getting in the mood to buy books :D Besides, I just saw you writing to Kylie about NOT buying Dr Jekyll & Mr Hyde on TWO different occasions and that's just not cool. Kylie liked it, I liked it, what else do you need? :motz::lol:

Yep I'm not rushing on Dorian Gray at all anymore :/

  24. Yep, a man of few words sounds very familiar. Sometimes I wish my family was a bit more vocal about things (so maybe I'd be better at expressing my feelings as well) but I guess I just have to accept the way they are. At least I know they really mean the things they say, when they rarely say something :) And don't get me wrong, I love my family and I'm such a Daddy's little girl

Oh I'd love to see pictures of your house! From the few pictures I've seen of Piper I've noticed the backround as well so I know you really do decorate and have things in order! The word immaculate keeps playing in my head in this context  Immaculate taste!

Oh you haven't read the Sookie S books yet? I thought you had. They sound great and are on my TBR too. I've already bought the 1st book in the series. 8 books is a lot but I think they're quick reads if they're as enjoyable as people keep saying. And they're not the thickest of books either so I guess it's okay you read them now :D

  25. Yep, it's because of my plans for Swaziland falling through. And because of some other stuff involving that same friend. My "womanly" cycle is also at that point that I'm my most vulnerable self so it just makes it all worse

But don't worry, I'm always exceedingly cheerful on my birthday, it's like I'm high on life all day  I expect to see a lot of lovely books on the Book Activity thread too ;) Since you've conviniently made more room for books on your shelves. Heck we deserve it don't we!! Happy book browsing, I'll be eager to see your report! And now I'm seriously off to bed. Well pretty soon anyway :tong:
