  1. Oh my goodness!!! I started reading the book this morning & have done nothing else. Finished at 6pm!! It has been a while since I have read a book in one sitting.... I suppose I ought to do something sensible now like catch up with some work, get something to eat, feed the parrot etc etc !! I feel oddly diconnected from life after reading for so long!

  2. Hi,

I have also had similar comments made. I do think some people just struggle to read & can think of a prime example. My brother has never understood me reading & has told me I am "boring" etc etc for reading so much. However... I also recall that he was a very slow reader as a child & struggled with English despite being talented in pretty much every other area. Perhaps people with specific reading difficulties just won't get the same enjoyment because reading is hard work for them. They shouldn't criticize those who do enjoy it but I just consider myself lucky I can!!!

  3. Hi Nellie,

I have been a member of two different reading groups due to moving around the country with work. I loved one & really looked forward to it. The other I felt uncomfortable in so only stayed for 6 months.

I think it is important you find out about the groups first as they can be very different. Make sure they read the kind of stuff you enjoy reading etc. The one I enjoyed did mostly modern fiction but also some good classics. However some groups also will nominate biographies/non-fiction as the book of choice. I think most groups will run some form of nomination and voting system for the book choices. Both groups I was a member of met monthly.

I will join one again as soon as I know where my next (and hopefully last) move will be to!!

    Good luck,

    Heather :friends0:
