Hello Daniel, hope you enjoy the forum.:eek2:
-
Just started Wolf Hall - Hilary Mantel. Enjoying it so far.
-
I read The Help some months ago and absolutely loved it .Wonderful characters and brilliant story line, beautifully written. My very best read this year.
-
I thought that was by John Connolly?
I bought Join Me by Danny Wallace today. I wanted Yes Man but they only had a copy with Jim Carey's mug on the front and I don't want that version!
Correct The Book of Lost Things is John Connolly. Sheridan Hay's book is called The Secret of Lost Things.

Waterstones is absolutely my favourite shop, the staff are friendly(not pushy) and extremely knowledgeable. That's where I feel comfortable to browse and know that I will not be pounced on as soon as I walk into the shop.
-
Bought The Girl Who Kicked the Hornets' Nest this morning at Waterstones (
-
Just got my parcel from Amazon containing the hardback of Hilary Mantel's - Wolf Hall. I don't usually buy hardbacks so this is a big treat.
Will have to read Drowning Man very quickly, that won't be difficult though as it is a real page turner.
-
Finished reading Oryx and Crake - Margaret Atwood.
Slow start to the story but when the suspense begins to build up and the main characters develop I couldn't put the book down.Read it in two days.Looking forward to reading The Flood in the near future.Meanwhile I will be reading Drowning Man - Michael Robotham the second book he has written. His first book The Suspect was one of the best thriller books I have read recently.
-
Stieg Larsson's third book is in the book shops on Thursday,it's called The Girl Who Kicked the Hornets' Nest. Can't wait to get reading it.
-
Halfway through Oryx and Crake and I'm really enjoying it.
-
Just finished reading The Suspect - Michael Rowbotham, a psychological thriller with a brilliant ending that I had not sussed out. If you like Cracker you will love this.
Complete change of genre will be reading Oryx and Crake next, then Michael Rowbotham's second book which is The Drowning Man.

I can read at every opportunity.
Always have a read at bedtime, propped up with comfy pillows.
Then I will read at every available moment of my day, even while waiting for things to cook and kettles to boil etc.
This means that I am either perched on a stool, sat in an armchair or at the table eating my lunchtime sarnie.
Most of the time I don't worry about creased spines as I think that a book should be enjoyed.Of course there are some exceptions ie books that I know I will definitely be keeping.
-
I read that it sold 1,000,000 copies the first day.
Oh goody there will be loads in the charity shops soon !
-
Tonight I will be cooking poached salmon with broccoli, courgettes, carrots and sweet potatoes.
-
Hi Holly and a big welcome

Just finished I Victoria - Cynthia Harrod-Eagles. Never read any of her books before and it has been sitting on one of my book shelves for ages. Found it historically interesting as I knew very little about Queen Victoria, but will probably not read this author again.
Starting on Shatter - Michael Robotham. The blurb says it is a terrifying psychological thriller and is going to delve into the darkess recesses of my mind.
Started to read and was prepared to be terrified ,when I realised that these books needed to be read in sequence,so I am now reading the first one (which I just happened to have) called The Suspects.
-
I really enjoyed The Ghost at the Table, good pick for book club discussion.

I don't need silence but find loud music distracting.I read at every opportunity always read in bed,and usually fall asleep with my face in the book

'You work for a murder squad?' Sarah asked, arching her dark eyebrows,as if the idea was extraordinary.
Our Lady of Pain - Elena Forbes.

I am a born reader and could read before I started school. In the summer I would be in the garden reading to my teddy bear ahhh.....

That is a great review Gyre. Oryx and Crake is sitting on one of my book shelves waiting to be read.Your review of The Year of the Flood has awakened my interest, so when I have finished my current book I will be making a start on Oryx and Crake.
