Hi - I'm trying to remember a book, and hoped someone may be able to help me.
About 10 years ago I read a great book - a kind of fictionalised autobiography - written by a British female author. She lived with her sister and parents in Yorkshire? in the 60s/70s. Her Dad died, and the new stepdad started to beat the mother & girls. They went off to Canada.. and I can't remember the end.
I lent it to my sister & it never came back. For years I thought it was Kate Atkinson's Behind the Scenes at the Museum, but when I thought recently "I'd love to re-read that book", and read Museum, it was a totally different book!
It's now driving me mad! Does anyone recognise the plot at all? Have I lost my marbles?!
