    Thank you!

I'm fine, thank you. Taking a beating in Scrabble, but other than that, I'm great. And you?

You're brave to befriend me, I thought I'm very much in the dog house...

    Hi!

Oh, sure thing. And Janet did have a point. Not that I'm one to preach about not going off-topic, I've had entire thread created purely for my off-topicing. (yes, that's a word. At least from now on.)

And while I'm no fan of psychology myself (call it after-effects of years of therapy), I do find shifts in culture, such as the role of fairy tales, fascinating. The real problem with books like that for me is that they're just too scary! I don't read horror, I don't watch horror, in fact most 'psychological thrillers' are too much for me. And I'm convinced one of these days when I go to the basement of the building I live in, a murderer is going to attack me. I have too lively imagination to read or watch anything remotely scary. I get nightmares from Agatha Christie novels!

Well, you probably haven't gotten a feel of my book taste, as there really isn't a set group of books I like. I like classics such as Wharton and Austen and the Dead Russian Dudes. I love books that are well written (well, d'oh!). Language and its use has always been really important to me (I pay more attention to the lyrics and the melody in a song), probably because I've never had my 'own' language. That's why I loved Waiting so much. I like books that make me think, engage me. I like smart books, you could say. Of course the occasional chick-lit, but even then it has to be funny enough to hold my attention. *laughs* Like I said, there really isn't a set type.

Oh, no no, it's a longer story.

Oh, I saw your thread about that, I hope things get better today at the doc's!

It's the "same letters for all" version, so I can't even blame bad luck... And BF's not playing 'cause we're playing in French, so I'm not even kicking his butt. hmmm... BF's butt... *gets lost in daydream* (we had Bellini's for breakfast)

  5. Oh, did you have a successful hunt?

I'm having the craziest of schedules, yesterday I was on my feet, out and about for 14 hours straight. Today, the same. Tomorrow, probably the same. Friday? Two exams and a party. So I guess I'm being productive for the both of us! *laughs*

    Take care!

    *kisses*

Nothing to get into in here.

Oh, you sure? It's a nice butt! (22 years of football and ice hockey makes a nice butt...) ... Okay.

Well, technically, no. I grew up in France, in Paris. My mother was French, you see. So in a lot of ways I'm French. But not on paper.

    Hi!

Sure thing, thank you for asking.

  8. Hi Dahlin!

How was your trip?? (Maybe you've told all about it somewhere, but as I have about 3500 unread posts...)

"Yeah, you come across as the type to read books that require a degree of intellect"

Why, thank you! I'm flattered. And you're right about the mindless fluff. We all need that every now and then. Be it chick-lit, or YA, or self-help (I love those extreme-fluff 'how to have a glamorous life' books, they make me laugh!), it's all about escaping.

I actually have The Time-Traveller's Wife on my TBR pile. I bought it some time ago after hearing so much good things about it. I'm actually looking forward to it, but I haven't really felt like it yet. It's in Finnish, so it takes a special mood to read.

I studied Philosophy for a year back in Paris before I moved to Finland and my current school. And I still love it. So The Time-Traveller's Wife is sounding all the more better...

    Hi!

It was a pain. We got rescheduled like three times before the first take-off, then I had to make an extra plain-change... It was trying. But, thank God, my friends were able to adjust to my scheduling difficulties, as we were supposed to fly the last stop together. Choppers are more fun that I remembered! Which of course made me go all "we have to go heli-skiing soon!" to Ski Guy as soon as I saw him. Apparently that's not the proper way to say hello... *frowns*

Val d'Isere. Of course. *grin* Did you really think I'd miss the Worlds? *laughs*

  11. ii

    Thank you!

I like it too. The overtly "fake" colors, (i.e. no natural neutral shades) made it a bit difficult, so I decided to embrace the summer's trend of brights.

I like yous too, very calm and peaceful.

  12. ii

*laughs* Okay, I'll make it a priority. Next time I feel like reading in Finnish, or don't mind it, I'll reach for this one.

  13. ii

It was! *laughs* I think it was just that I thought it'd be easier, and then in got complicated, so... A few friends of mine booked the helicopter, I can't thank them enough! It was just what I needed! Like a shot of pure adrenaline into my arm.

Are you saying you didn't know there was Worlds going on in Val d'Isere or something non-PG-rated? I don't kick people out for forgetting the Worlds. And I offer them champagne for the latter part. *laughs*

    Hi!

I just wanted to stop by and say welcome to the forum, when I saw you're from France. I hope you enjoy it here.

Glad to previde entertainment. Yes, it's still the BCF, but as the books I'm currently reading are, let's see, "Behavioral Game Theory", "An Introduction to Linear Programming and Game Theory", "Group Formation in Economics", "Meetings in a work environment" (rought translation) and "Management and Cost Accounting", I think "the preference game" and "what are you wearing?" are much more fun options. Wouldn't you agree?

And hi right back at you. *grin*

  16. ii

I know! And I had the same experience when Sara PM'd me in Finnish, it just felt 'off' in a way! *laughs* We'll stick to English then, I guess it's only polite.

Oh, the skiing! It was amazing! Ski Boy called me as I was recovering from my should-have-been-a-hangover, and asked if I wanted to catch the last flight and come see the races. As I was feeling up to it, I did. It was the course where they ran the slalom, so it was icy and worn, but it was sooooo nice. I didn't know how much I missed the feeling of snow under my skis until I went up. It was awesome! And seeing Ski Boy, everyone, with Grange winning and Bode second, it was just brilliant!

Yes, it's my dark secret, I knit! *laughs* Seriously, it's the most relaxing, calming experience ever! I can send you the pattern, and talk you though it, it's really simple... I love knitting, and making my own things.

  17. ii

    What else was there...?

Oh, yes! Ou est tu? I had to drop it for a while, I got sidetracked by school work... But I'll keep you posted. I always have few book going at once... And as for sevent hell, voodoo's are more my style... *grin*

Oh, I'm so glad you're enjoying Complicated Kindness! I know the jumpy style is a bit much, but it's so worth it!

  18. ii

    Hi, Sweetie!

    How are you? Everything okay?

I was just wondering, you've seemed a bit more quiet around here (or at least I haven't seen your posts much), so I hope nothing's wrong. I assume you've just been busy with school and work and things.

Anyways, just checking... I've missed you.

    *kisses*

    ii

  19. "You're always here" ... gee, thanks! That didn't make me sound like a pathetic little Miss No-Life at all! *cracks up*

I've been incredibly busy. Like today, I need to go buy plastic shot cups, make three packs of Jell-O shots, go to pilates, wash my hair, meet up with a friend and have lunch, try to come up with an outfit for the evening (I have new pretty shoes!), see some people for a few hours to cut the fabrics for a play outfits (I promised to help because I'm not insanely busy, just incredibly, and I was feeling suicidal), attend a party for new students to tell them to pick economics as their major. Somewhere in there I need to pick up a book from a library for school work and do some grocery shopping.

And that's just another day in my life... I've barely had time to read my mail, no hope of updating the blog or being in here...

What's up with you? I've missed you! (see, I said I missed you, not that I'm bored and need you to entertain me, I'm nice.) *laughs*

  20. ii

Oh, I'm so glad you liked it!! It does take a bit of getting used to, the tone and pace and all...

I'll go check it right now. The Moomins are originally somewhat darker stories than the cartoon series are. But definitely worth reading! There's also a book called Winter Book by her, which, as far as I understand, is more like this Summer Book, only short stories.

I had wonderful time in Paris, thank you! The champagne was good, as always, and I managed to do some shopping I needed to get done. And H's new apartments is really nice! I want to move, too. Okay, I just want to redecorate, but... *laughs*

Oh, how was Bruges? Was is a work/school thing or just for fun?

    *kisses*

  21. ii

Well, the game theory bits are actually a ton of fun, it's the accounting that kills me.

I think it's important to keep things balanced, and include something lighter in there as well, in the form of "the preference game" and such... *grin*

  22. Well, it certainly wasn't a question I was expecting... *laughs* It varies from shoe to shoe, but mostly 37-38. That's about 5 in UK. Why???

  23. Hey Pretty-one!

I left a comment for you in the Knitt Nut thread... *mischievous laughter* nothing too fancy, though.

    How are you?

    *kisses*

  24. ii

That is true. You'll end up getting a huge list of books you'll want but never have time to read, trust me.

I think there's someone else, val_on_the_road, or something like that. And I just noticed my location is incorrect at the moment. (I've travelled around a lot lately and forget to update it.) I grew up mainly in France, maman was French and so on. I'm currently living in Finland, though.

I saw you mentioning you're a student somewhere. What are you studying, if you don't mind me asking?
