I think I heard that she did a lot of her own stunts. I doubt she did the moving car one though, and to be honest a lot of the others seemed far too dangerous.

The Sorceror's Apprentice - brilliant!

I once dropped a book in a mug of hot chocolate. There was a brown stain all over one corner - I was gutted!
I'm impressed by your skill was it a very big mug, a very small book, or a combination of factors?
I was reading in bed at the time and had the mug in one hand and the book in the other, and it just sort of fell into it It was a normal sized paperback, but I can't recall the size of the mug.

I saw Salt on Saturday. I enjoyed it but no woman could live through all that she did! Clever idea though.

Has any one read The Lost Art of Keeping Secrets by Eva Rice? It's supposed to be similar to I Capture the Castle, which I love, but I don't want to be too disappointed.
I've read it and I thought it was a lovely read. It wasn't as twee as I thought it was going to be.

I've finished The Secret Intensity of Everyday Life by William Nicholson - an excellent 'slice of life' story.
Now reading Blue Lightning, the final book in the Shetland quartet by Ann Cleeves.
-
I'm very excited about this. I love the books, and I love Jason Isaacs.
-
I'm reading The Secret Intensity of Everyday Life by William Nicholson. It's set in a Suffolk village over the course of six days, and it about all its inhabitants.
-
One of those negative reviews is mine, I'm afraid. It was just too twee for my liking. Great review though, and I'm glad you liked it.

Welcome.. but, I wonder how they would react if you advertised this forum over there?!
I don't think they'd mind at all - it's not one forum or the other and a few of us use both forums.
Hi Dave, fancy seeing you here

- Fugedaboudit.
- For-get aboouut it.
Yeah, brilliant! I love the bit where he throws his boss out of the restaurant and is pretending to do the gangster thing.

This week I have seen Inception at the cinema and loved it, and watched Doubt and Mickey Blue Eyes on DVD. Doubt is very good and really does leave you with a lot of doubt in your mind. I've seen Mickey Blue Eyes loads of times before, but it still makes me laugh.

I've now finished The Mother's Tale by Camilla Noli. It's certainly shocking, but I found it a riveting read.
I'm now reading Grace Williams Says It Loud by Emma Henderson, which looks to be an intriguing read already.

I thought it was fabulous. I cant wait to see the next one. The acting and writing were second to none. I did wonder if the 'enemy' was going to be Mycroft.
I've no idea about the hidden message on the website though.

I've recently finished The Legacy by Katherine Webb, which I had trouble getting into but was a really good read once I did. I then read The Mist in the Mirror by Susan Hill, which was a massive disappointment after the thrill that was The Woman in Black. Now I'm reading The Mother's Tale by Camilla Noli, which has shocked me so far.

The individual book sounds like The Machine Gunners by Robert Westall.

I watched The Damned United last night. I'm not into football at all, but I thought it was an excellent film. The portrayals were brilliant (I think Michael Sheen is a bit of a genius) and the story was compelling throughout. For those who don't know, it's about Brian Clough's ill-fated 44 days as manager of Leeds United.

I could have sworn I said "Thanks for this, Nicola, I look forward to reading it" last night, but I can't see it anywhere. I must be cracking up ....
So ... thanks for this, Nicola, I look forward to reading it.
You're welcome. Hope you like it.

State of the Union by Douglas Kennedy went by the wayside, as did A Change in Altitude by Anita Shreve.
Now onto The Legacy by Katherine Webb, which I hope I fare better with.

Came home today with:
The Rabbit Factory by Marshall Karp - described by the blurb as " ...the Carl Hiaasen of Los Angeles", which is quite a lot to live up to
This is a fabulous read. I loved it and the two in the series after it as well.
-
I've read it and thought it was an excellent read. Chris Cleave is a very talented writer.
-
Polished off An Education by Lynn Barber earlier, and now reading State of the Union by Douglas Kennedy.
-
I've finished The Poison Tree by Erin Kelly - a good story, with a couple of nice twists.
I'm now a couple of chapters into An Education by Lynn Barber.

The Secret Life of Bees - I loved it. I think they did a good adaptation from the book.
