Give it time Inver - they'll come.
-
I did wonder why Alan Pardew was trending on Twitter higher than Russia and Ukraine! The mighty St Austell managed a 5-1 win this afternoon, so now there's clear air between us and the next team down.
-
Good luck Inver. We're back in league action today against the team in 11th (we're 10th). A win here will almost guarantee us a finish in the top half of the table. Not quite up to the standards of last season's 4th place, but we've still got both cups to enjoy!
-
They're getting closer Inver. We managed to reach the quarter-finals of our other major cup competition with a great 4-1 win tonight. Our league form isn't quite up to scratch (last Saturday's match was a 1-0 defeat), but maybe 2 cup finals could be on the horizon?
-
That's good news Inver. We're looking good for a return to league action tomorrow. How are things up there?
-
Get well soon Andy! Our local rivals also reached the semi-finals yesterday. Last time we both reached this stage was almost 50 years ago!
-
Finally, some real football action. Today we managed an epic 6-3 win in the Quarter Final of the Cornwall Senior Cup with not a drop of rain to be seen!
-
Football seems to be a thing a the past here. A quarter of our pitch is underwater and one of our floodlight brackets has completely buckled in the storms. The forecasters say that there isn't going to be any let up in the next week either. It's just one massive storm after another at the moment.

It pleases me too emelee! There are quite a few fair-weather Manchester United fans in Cornwall who are now seeing the light and returning to their local clubs! Things are a bit quiet down here at the moment though - we've just had our 6th postponement of the year and tomorrow's cup match doesn't look great either.
-
Oops. I'm getting to the stage now when all footballers look like youngsters - and I'm only 39!
-
We were in that position a few years ago and there were calls to accept relegation rather than re-apply to stay in the league, but fortunately we decided to go for re-election. A year later we finished 3rd and lifted the Senior Cup. But we did have a bit of money to throw at building a new side. In my view with a team of youngsters, playing in a lower league could get them back into a winning mentality and build their confidence for their future playing career.

How many teams go down in that league Inver? Today was one of those rare days when a football match took place down here! Unfortunately we lost 2-1 and collected out first red card of the season. On a positive note the draw for the Cup Quarter Finals paired us with the minnows and rank outsiders of St Day. We haven't actually played the 3rd round game yet though (it's been postponed twice), so I'm not counting my chickens!

Yesterday was a complete washout for us again. One match in 5 weeks isn't great!
-
We've got a Cup game tomorrow but the weather doesn't look good. We're just awaiting a 9am pitch inspection at Torpoint.
-
Hopefully we won't need him, but it's nice to have a safety net. He actually had a fantastic chance to score on Saturday 8 yards from goal with only the keeper to beat. Unfortunately he didn't seem sure what to do, so he passed to one of our surprised forwards who put the ball 6 feet over the bar!

Bad luck Inver. We had torrential rain throughout last week and the huge storms are back again today, but incredibly yesterday we saw blue skies and sunshine. We grabbed our chance and played Liskeard Athletic, beating them 8-0 for our biggest ever win in this league! Five goals from our star striker and three more from another. We even managed to bring on our 45 year old reserve goalkeeper as a centre forward! He was completely useless, but gave us all a good laugh when his first touch involved stepping on the ball and falling flat on his back. There was method in our madness though - next week we have a cup game and to be eligible a player has to have made at least one first team appearance this season.
-
As most grounds down here are underwater we've been suffering from football withdrawal since 14th December! It doesn't look too great for this weekend either - I think it's going to be a busy April!
-
Good stuff Inver! Not such a good Saturday for us though I'm afraid. 90 minutes of trying to play in a howling gale and torrential rain resulted in a 2-1 defeat against our bogey team. That's what winter football is all about!
-
I would wish Newcastle luck for tomorrow, but unfortunately I've got 3 Southampton players (including 2 defenders) in my fantasy football team so I'm torn! Oh well, good luck anyway geordie! The mighty St Austell are at home this afternoon against Godolphin Atlantic. In terms of form we're pretty much level pegging, so it's going to be a tough game.
-
We took a while to get going yesterday, but in the end we managed quite an entertaining 4-1 win. Silverware is a real possibility this season!
-
I think our new manager needs to pace himself. He got a bit over-excited at a couple of decisions he didn't agree with and ended up in the opposition technical area. Never mind, I'm sure he'll calm down soon! We've got a lower league side in the Cornwall Senior Cup on Saturday. This cup is our best chance of silverware. Bodmin Town have won it for the last 4 years. The last team other than Bodmin to lift the trophy was....................St Austell! The weather is pretty mild down here at the moment, but the temperature is very gradually decreasing.
-
St Austell went down 4-2 yesterday, but it was one of our best performances for a few weeks with 2 goals from our debutant striker. Thankfully we don't have to play Plymouth Parkway again this season, but everybody else does!
-
I'll be watching out for their result! We're heading into the unknown today with our new manager against the league's best team. He's already made 2 good attacking signings, so we'll see what happens!
-
St Austell drew 2-2 yesterday in a game which was low in quality but high in entertainment. 3 yellow cards in the first 30 seconds! Not a bad point for our managerless side, but the new manager has been announced this morning. His first match will be on Saturday against the title favourites!
-
We've had a mixed weekend with a very useful 3-0 win yesterday followed by our manager's resignation! He's quite a young chap and it looks like he was struggling with the pressure. I hope we can find a replacement quickly!
