That's a bit weird - if they openly admit to being two people by having a website why do they print in their books that Nicci french is a she - journalist and lives in Suffolk. A bit mad if you ask me.
-
Sorry I'm a bit confused - why does it say in her books under 'About Author' that she is a journalist and lives in Suffolk - if it is actually more than 1 person?
-
I thought this was one of her weakest books.

Feb Continued:
Jonathan Strange & Mr Norell (slight cheat - hope to finish this evening)
The Kindness of Strangers - Kate Adie autobiography. This was my reading group book but I didn't finish it. I don't read a lot of autobiographies but this one was extremely boring - you would think with the sights that woman has seen she could have put some excitement into the writing.
Where love goes - Joyce Maynard
Around the World in 80 days - Jules Verne. This was again for my reading group as part of the big reading adventure. We are having a rolling reading group for people to visit next week. I actually really enjoyed this book and read it in a few hours. Even though I knew the ending I was still getting excited and stressed out when he missed boats etc. And was quite dissapointed he didn't go in a hot air balloon - bloody films giving me these stupid ideas.
AUDIO
Angels and Demons - Dan Brown. Actually still listening to this but I feel I am just re-reading the Da Vinci Code - the formula is exactly the same.

I have read all of Nicci french's books and am always awaiting a new one. They have dramatised a couple of them on tv as well - they have been good too and stuck close to the books without changing them too much. The film Killing me softly doesn't live up to the book though - again as films always seem to do they changed the end quite a lot.
-
This is my current most favourite book (it may change) and now have more of her books on my TBR pile. I'm starting to really get into historical fiction.

Thanks you guys,
Kel I left a message for you on the other topic about this.
Freewheeling andy - good idea but unfortuanetly when your partner is turksih on turkish food will do ha ha
Thanks Jake for the link - will have a rummage around on there later - great idea but I think Boreks are a bit advanced for me at the moment!!! - need to start off with some of the casseroles etc.
Thanks again everyone

This is a bit of a long shot really - I was just wondering if anyone can help me out with either a good turkish cook book or just some recipes - in order for me to impress the other half.

I know it is an awful thing to admit but that is the only experience I have had of P&P so far - must watch it on the TV and now I have listened to it (allthough abridged) I really want to see the new film - I like Keira Knightley.

Ok here goes:
January 06:
The Little Prisoner by Jane Elliot
The Other Boleyn Girl by Philippa Gregory - loved it, one of my favourite books currently
Naughts & Crosses by Malorie Blackman (Audio) - great for tennagers
One Last Look by Susanna Moore - yawn, couldn't get into it and didn't finish it
Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil by John Berendt (Audio) - enjoyed, took we a while to realise it was factual and not fiction
We Need to Talk about Kevin by Lionel Shriver - good but wasn't shocked at the end - saw it coming all along
Started Jonathan Strange and Mr Norell by Susanna Clarke (taking a break from)
February 06 (so far)
Salem Falls by Jodi Picoult - good but not her best
Birdsong by Sebastian Faulks (Audio) - sooooo boring but got further than I would have it had read the book
Pride and Prejudice (Audio - abridged) woohoo
-
Thanks Michelle,
Not sure when I will get round to reading My Sister's Keeper but will definately post my thoughts when I have
-
I am currently reading this book. It is very long so I am actually taking a break from it at the moment but it is not because I'm not enjoying it - just 1000 pages is too much alltogether.
-
I read The Da Vinci Code a while back and enjoyed it but didn't think I would bother with his other books. I found Angels and Demons today on audio book in the library so decided to try it whilst driving in the car. I'm only on chapter 8 and it seems very familiar - allthough the story is different it feels like I am re-reading The Da Vinci Code. If all his books are like this i won't be reading any others.
-
I enjoyed Plain Truth the most out of the books that I have read - My Sister's Kepper is still on my TBR pile.
