Oh, I love tofu rice! It’s one of those simple yet satisfying dishes that you can customize however you like.
For me, the key is how you handle the tofu. If I want something soft and comforting, I’ll use silken tofu and let it soak up the flavors. But if I’m in the mood for texture, I go for firm tofu, pan-fry it until golden, and mix it into the rice for that crispy-on-the-outside, tender-on-the-inside bite.
A good sauce makes all the difference. I usually do a mix of soy sauce, a little oyster sauce, and sesame oil. Sometimes, I’ll throw in garlic and green onions for extra flavor, or even a fried egg on top if I want something richer.
It’s a super versatile dish, some days I keep it light and simple, other days I go all out with spicy chili oil or miso butter. Do you have a favorite way to make it?
