I read The Cuckoo's Calling a few years ago, I really enjoyed it at the time but yes it's quite 'average' as it happens.

I finished The God of Small Things which was absolutely wonderful. It had been on my shelves for years but for some reason I never got round to it. Absolutely deserving of all the praise. I next read Lullaby by Leila Slimani, which was a rather satisfying, above average 'thriller' so to speak. Currently reading Dear Life by Alice Munro, and for the life of me I do not know why it took me so long to read some Munro. This is wonderful!

Read it a few weeks ago. Absolutely agree. Lovely book.

Just finished Milkman. The stream of consciousness / wall of text style was different but overall I enjoyed it. I haven't ready any of the other Man Booker nominees this year. Just started Orhan Pamuk's Snow. I had attempted this a few years ago and didn't make much progress, so hopefully this time I will manage!

I've just started The Shadow Of The Wind by Carlos Ruiz Zafon. About 20 pages in at the moment and it looks interesting.

I read Sjon's The Boy Who Never Was yesterday. It was okay but after everything I've read about it, I was mildly disappointed and thought it's probably a bit overrated. Haven't read anything else by him.

1. The Picture Of Dorian Gray (Wilde) 2. Great Expectations (Dickens) 3. Wuthering Heights (Bronte)

Thanks Sazed for the lovely welcome. The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle is one of my Murakami favourites, I hope you enjoy it.

La La Land. Overrated.

Thanks! And it is, yes! And of course Kafka is one of my favourite authors as well, so for both reasons I thought it would be a good username on this forum.

I enjoyed the book for what it was (a second rate Gone Girl). The film on the other hand was just atrocious. Poor adaptation notwithstanding; the acting was atrocious as well. -
I'm quite intrigued by this actually. I'd say I'm a casual fan of his music. I've got some of his albums - Nebraska, The Rising and Tunnel Of Love are my favourites. I've also got a couple of his live DVDs. I'll be investigating this autobiography. Will let you know how it goes.
