Hi, I'm kind of new to the forum... I actually don't read too much anymore unfortunately.
I'm actually an artist looking for suggestions for kid's/YA books with great environments/fantasy type locations. I am working on creating a series of pieces for my portfolio based on environment work and would love some suggestions. I would prefer books that have not been made into big blockbuster movies already...
Some ideas I've been thinking about: James and the Giant Peach (or any Roald Dahl), Series of Unfortunate Events, Coraline (already a feature film), the Golden Compass (already a feature) etc.
I'd prefer to stick to more fantasy YA, but I'm open to anything really. It could also be fun to work within a certain time period/location that is not completely fantasy... Moon over Manifest was another suggestion that I received.
