jotoff
I just finished reading Lolita and I'm quite confused. I always thought it was a monstrous abuse story of a little girl, but I ended up with the feeling that she was the true monster in the end. She slept with Humbert only when she realized she is on her own and needed security. As the book goes on, she became more and more abusive and manipulative. I feel like Nabokov is simply using her character to show how women learn to gain control over men as they grow up. Is it me being sexist or most people are getting the message wrong?
