About the awards The David Gemmell Awards is an annual event that recognises outstanding achievements in fantasy fiction. The awards' self-declared mission is to raise public awareness of the fantasy genre, celebrate the history and cultural importance of fantasy literature, appreciate & reward excellence in the field, and to commemorate the legacy of David Gemmell and his contribution to the fantasy genre. You can visit the website here. There have been some fantastic winners since the awards began in 2009, including Brandon Sanderson, Patrick Rothfuss, Brent Weeks, Helen Lowe, and Andrzej Sapkowski.
