If you want to be involved in the giveaway but don't currently support, you can join the patreon at any point in February here:  www.patreon.com/bookclubforum .

A question in Atonement by Ian McEwan

Recommended Posts

I just cannot figure out some of the details as the novel reveals - " When I am dead, and the Marshalls are dead, and the novel is finally published, we will only exist as my inventions". I just know Briony is forgetting things and wants to give a happy ending to the lovers, as atonement, but I just do not know who are the "Marshalls" and what they are. Do anyone know it? Thanks!

If you haven’t finished the book yet, keep reading and you’ll find out.  If you have finished it, a quick search for Atonement, McEwan and Marshall’s will tell you which characters the Marshalls are.
