  1. Hello everyone! I'm Mandy from Singapore and I'm here because I have a book hoarding addiction. I have about 400+ books on my bookshelf now, and more than half of them have been bought and unread for years and years. I have very recently put a ban on myself from acquiring any new books (including borrowing library books) until I have cleared at least one page of TBR (~30 titles). I'm a pharmacist, but I recently quit to do a Master's in English Literature. It's a crazy move but one I really wanted to do for my own sake. Besides reading, other hobbies I enjoy are bullet journaling, calligraphy, and I've also tried to pick up drawing and cooking recently! I'm very happy to be here and look forward to lurking around.
  2. Hello. I have just joined this forum. I find myself reading more and more these days and I am beginning to realise what an incredible adventure is out there waiting to be discovered in the written word. I suppose the main reason I joined this forum has selfish undertones! My local library often either do not have the works I am interested in, or there is some difficulty in locating the book. Then there is the expense of buying the books you want. Often a book comes in at around £10 here in the UK, and these costs mount up very quickly. I am not really interested in lining my walls with expensive decorations while simultaneously reducing my quota of living space! Now the idea of sharing or swapping books is a good one. The postage costs are much more bearable. Right now I find myself having moved on from historical fiction to more factual works - I am currently reading `Ghost Map` by Steven Johnson. So that`s my introduction - see you again soon.
  3. Hello there *waves* to anyone out there on this sunny sunday morning. Just thought I'd better introduce myself before I start posting elsewhere. I',m Sarah, I'm from Scotland and I've always loved reading. I'm an on and off reader- read loads one month then nothing the next, but I love to buy books anytime. Can't get my head round a Kindle yet though, like the feel of turning pages and reading something that's been enjoyed by countless others. I don't have a favourite "type" of book, just whatever takes my fancy- currently going to attempt a few Classics as DD is doing Advanced Higher English and I'm going to read along with her with her book list... Other interests are walking, holidaying, cooking and gigs...and reading about them!! Hope to chat to lots of likeminded people on here soon
