  1. That's an impressive list. A very varied list of books as well. I have never made a list of what I have read but will for 2012. I so often loose track of what I have read that would be nice to get a snapshot of the year and just see how many books I am going through. What did you think of Wolf Hall? This has been on My bookshelf since it came out but never got round to it.
  2. Thats great, thank you. I has better get reading 
  3. Welcome Roy. Have read Les Mis (I admit not in French) and I love it. One of my favourite classics. You should definately give it a go. It is worth it.
  4. Does anyone know how I can get involved with the reading circle in 2012? Would love to be a part.
  5. I have never read anything by Daphne de Maurier apart from Rebecca. What else would you recommend?
  6. Hi everyone, Abcintha, living in Stoke Mandeville. I quite like it, can enjoy the countryside without being in the middle of nowhere. Hi Julie, it's quite a silly book. Giles Brandreth wrote a couple of books with real historic characters involved in murder mysteries. This one has Oscar Wilde, Bran Stoker and Arthur Conan Doyle at a party where the guest keep getting murdered. Good fun so long as you don't take too seriously
  7. Getting lots of ideas of books to read. Glad that so many people enjoyed When Got Was A Rabbit. That was a really good read. So diffreent than anything I have read recently. I have just finished The Poison Tree by Erin Kelly and currently starting one of Gile Brandreth's Oscar Wilde mystery's. I know that they are silly but I do enjoy them.
  8. I will be looking out for someone to make a movie of The Sisters Brothers. I don't usually have any interest in Westerns but this one was excellent
  9. Hi all I'm Vicky and just joined after discovering this forum on the net. I'm currently living in Bucks and will read almost anything I can get my hands on, mostly crime thrillers and historical fiction. I am also a fan of a genre of fiction that seems to be quite popular at the moment but I don't know what you would call it, always about someone discoving something about the past, usually involving a big house, thinking of Kate Morton and Rachel Hore. While I'm not reading I love living in the country side after years in the city so spend a lot of time on long walks and bike rides (when weather permits) and I still work in London so have a long commute (plenty of time to read ) Look forward to meeting you all, having some interesting dicussions and hopefully making some friends.
