  1. I had no idea there was such a thing, I've since looked for it and found it online. Thank you!
  2. I've had my Kindle since February and I love it! I've probably read more books on it this year than I would have done otherwise, It's just so easy to use. It'll never replace paper books though, but I definitely wouldn't be without it. I actually get some criticism from people saying "How could you be so disloyal to books!?" which annoys me a lot, of course all of these people have never even held a kindle! Had no idea the Kindle had games though! Will have to have a squint at that!
  3. See, I'm in two minds. I hated most of the books I was forced to read at school for this very reason, I think the main problem was that you couldn't just read the book at your leisure and enjoy it, you had to read at a pace you maybe weren't comfortable with and then had to pour over it in such depth that left you resenting the book and it all gets rather tedious. However if it's a book that's been recommended to you by a friend then generally I think that I enjoy it, I know I don't recommend books to people unless I genuinely feel they'll enjoy it so I'd hope my friends take the same care when the recommend books to me so I often discover real gems. Also being able to read at your own pace and leisure and not having to sit and dissect every passage for weeks after you're finished helps. Emelee, I think your idea of providing a list that students can pick and choose from is a smashing idea, wish my English teachers were this inventive.
  4. I love Jodi Picoult. She's definitely one of those writers that you just can't put down when you start, I love that she handles really unique and delicate subject matter and really takes you on a 'journey' if you know what I mean. I just finished reading Salem Falls the other night and really enjoyed it, love how she made me gasp on shock on the very last line in the book and then made me want to immediately re-read it to see if I could pick up on the clues I missed first time round. It's things like that is why I love Picoult.
  5. I know I'm like 29 pages late but I just wanted to thank you for posting Rory's booklist! So brilliant! I've only read 8 of them but a lot of them are on my 'To Read' list so shouldn't be so difficult. Gilmore Girls is repeated daily on E4, so I get a daily fix of the Girls. I actually feel like I've forgotten to do something if I miss it.
  6. Hiya! My name's Victoria and I'm new to this wee forum. I've not been a member of a forum for a good few years so I'm rusty to the whole concept. I've joined this one because I love reading but my friends don't tend to read the same kinds of books that I do or don't talk about them which is kind of annoying. I like all sorts of books, I'm a big Austen fan and I love Jodi Picoult, Cecilia A'hern and lots more. Currently reading the first of the Sherlock Holmes books at the moment. Hoping they're relatively easy to get into, I find books written pre- WW1 can be a bit difficult because of the pace, but here's to perseverance! Anyway, Greetings!
