Hi all I've just cashed in some points from another club I'm in and I've got £45 of Amazon Tokens, anyone read anything really good recently(new), that they would recommend,almost any genre SF, fantasy,crime, general fiction or historical(excepting Diana Gabaldon). Cheers JimmyD.

I always believed that a film could never match its book in quality,until I think it was about 1993 two films came along that I thought outshone the books they were adapted from, they were Schindler's List and Shawshank Redemption. While Shawshank was just a run of the mill King short story, Schindler's Ark was a powerful story and for Spielberg not only to match it but to better it was a work of genius. Although I struggle to make best of lists These two films would both be in my top ten films and Ark would be high up in my books.

Hi Mav, I would recommend Arnhem By Major-General R E Urquhart. Urquhart was in command of the British Airborne Division's attempt to capture and hold the Rhine crossing, he gives a very direct and honest account of the battle and there is no attempt to hide the fact that things went wrong right from the start and how little influence he had on events. Although it is a long time since I read it I believe it is still quite easy to get a copy.

Hi everybody, I’ve just finished my HNC Business (very mature student) and I’m looking forward to doing some serious reading over the next few weeks, I’m hoping to get some ideas for reading material from some of you guys (I read just about anything). I can’t really say about favourite books or authors as there are so many of them, but out of the current crop of writers I really like Iain Banks (both genres).
