  1. I buy almost all my books secondhand because of the cost. If there is a specific book that I can't find or haven't seen at Half Price Books or Goodwill, then I will buy it new, but otherwise all secondhand. It's sort of like a challenge to find the books I want secondhand. The hunt and looking for books is part of the fun for me. I have a list of books that I want to read and if I find them at a decent price used, I will pick it up and add it to my collection. All the books I have found used are in decent shape. I probably wouldn't buy a book used if it was stained and drawn in. Have to draw the limit somewhere. I want my books used, not damaged. I also try to only buy in paperback because I bring my books to work with me and a hardcover is so heavy.
  2. Of the books above, most of them were decent. Although there were a couple that were time wasters. Sex and the City was NOT like the show and definitely something I didn't enjoy. I almost considered ending the book in the middle, but just couldn't. I thought it was dreadful. I loved In Her Shoes. Couldn't wait to read another chapter and loved the characters in the book. I hope to read more Jennifer Weiner books this year. Jemima J was decent, but nothing grand. Lots of filler that slowed the plot down. Bridget Jones' Diary was not one of my favorites. I didn't like the main character and just couldn't get into the story. Loved, loved, LOVED the Texas! Trilogy. Seriously, couldn't get enough. I read the back and had my hopes high and they were fulfilled. Same goes for the Bride Quartet series. Loved each book and they all left me with a warm, happy feeling inside. Something Borrowed was something I didn't like. Long, boring story with boring characters. A lot of thinking and pondering and not a lot of action by the main character. Was very glad to be done. Something Blue, however, was a little bit better (probably because the main character was hardly in the book). The Help was very good. Definitely a piece that should be read in High school about civil rights. Very well done.
  3. I just started to "heavily" read this year because I finished college and now I actually have time! Most of the books I buy are from Goodwill, Half Price Books and other thrift stores. January- Eat Pray Love: Elizabeth Gilbert Sex and the City: Candace Bushnell Goodnight Tweetheart: Teresa Medeiros February- In Her Shoes: Jennifer Weiner Jemima J: Jane Green Wicked: Gregory Maguire March- Bridget Jones' Diary: Helen Felding Texas! Lucky: Sandra Brown April- Texas! Chase: Sandra Brown Texas! Sage: Sandra Brown Vision in White: Nora Roberts Bed of Roses: Nora Roberts Savor the Moment: Nora Roberts Happy Ever After: Nora Roberts May- Something Borrowed: Emily Griffin Something Blue: Emily Griffin June- The Help: Kathryn Stockett Dead Until Dark: Charlaine Harris
  4. I enjoyed the book. The middle part did drag a bit and there was quite a bit of complaining on Gilbert's behalf during that section. I was glad when that part was over. The first section always made me hungry for pizza (which I can't say is a total bad thing) and it had better characters and I could picture the setting better than the middle part. The last section, again, had better characters and a better plot that kept you reading. The middle part was sort of a stand-still part of the book and I was always waiting for it to get going, and it just never did. Also, I thought the movie actually followed the book quite nicely. I read the book and then watched the movie and they seemed to go together well.
  5. I cried at the end of the Bride Quartet series by Nora Roberts. I loved that whole series and it had a great happy ending, which made me cry for happiness or joy. But also, knowing that that the last book also made me cry. I felt like such a dork tearing up in the breakroom at work, but it was just so good in a happy/sad way.
  6. I tend to read reviews of books before I look at purchasing them. I have a list of books that I would like to read/buy and if the review/synopsis isn't that grand, it won't make the list.
  7. I didn't mind this book, but it wasn't my favorite. She was annoying at times and there were some things in the story that didn't really advance the plot and just added bulk (no pun intended). It was a decent book. I would like to read another one of her books, just to see if it's better or about the same.
  8. I thought The Bride Quartet Series by Nora Roberts was amazing. I read all four books in April and loved every one of them. The first two I found used and then I went out and bought the last two new because I couldn't wait to read them.
