  1. Thanks a lot guys, plenty of suggestions here. I'll have to trawl amazon and see if I can pick up any on the kindle. Cheers again
  2. Some books that go along with the series? I guess you can't go wrong with the Timothy Zahn Thrawn trilogy, since they take place pretty much after the last film ended. Some really good twists in those stories too
  3. I hadn't read any Steven King prior to the dark tower series, but I'm quite hooked now (currently on book 5) I'd say that the first one is quite hard to get in to, I found that a lot of it didn't make that much sense, and felt a bit too "drawn out". It took me well over 6 months to read purely because I couldn't handle too much of it at a time (sounds like I'm downplaying it, but thats my style of reading). Second book got absolutely AWESOME, some really cool stuff in there. The third was pretty good too, but the fourth....oh my god, that is THE best in the series so far. The fourth one also took me a while to read, I started off not liking it too much but it grew on me. As you progress through the series you find out bits of Rolands past, and then suddenly it'll click and you'll think to yourself "Ah, now I know what they were talking about in book 1", I've had at least 3 of those in the past few reading sessions. Definately my favourite book series so far, just jump in and go for it. They are apparently making it into a TV series + films in 2013. I've also heard rumours that an extra book is being written that will fit in between (between 4-5 I believe). Go, for there are other worlds than these...
  4. Hi people, first post here so please be gentle! I'm planning to go on holiday to Australia at the end of the year (road trip between Melbourne and Brisbane). I've never been before, don't really know anyone from there, and don't really know much about the place (history / culture etc). I'm looking for a book(s) that will help me understand a little more about the place, so I don't turn up completely idle and miss out on learning some good things. I'm not looking for a travel guide, got plenty of those already. So far I have read "Down Under" by Bill Bryson, I thought this was a great book as he travelled all over and there were often several pages where he diverged off into a story of how a place got its name, why a town ended up in the place it did, accounts of early settlers etc. Thats the kind of thing I'm interested to read. I'm looking for an all rounder book that can hopefully cover some of the following : History - Who were the first settlers, why did the cities end up where they are etc. Indigenous peoples - Interested to learn more about their history. Famous (Australian) legends - Such as Ned Kelly, thats the only one I can think of but there must be more. Keen to find something on Kindle format too.. Many thanks
