I dont give up on books anymore,I used to but I've reread a lot of them now anyway. I'm reading Oliver Twist at the moment and its the closest I've been to giving up for a long time but I've stuck with it and now I'm actually enjoying it.

84 on mine at the mo and 11 on .com. I did have 800 on there last week but I deleted it because the amount of books I'm after was getting me down:irked: and it did'nt even take into account all second handers I would like either

Has anyone else used fantasticfiction.co.uk,this is a really good database of authors and their books.Its really hany for tracking down books and authors amazon dont bother with anymore.I have been known to be on there for hours at a time! has links to abebooks which is a decent booksellers site.

I was watching Cold Case on TV last night which is a police procedural drama about a team that reopen old unsolved crimes and usually solve them.I got to wondering is there any authors who write similar stories?
Any ideas?

Chapter 13,I hate leaving a book on chapter 13, I have to read the whole chapter in a oner and usually chapter 14 too as this would leave me on 13 and a bit if I did'nt get through it.

I would reccomend his first book Harry's Game,a cracking thriller with characters you can really care about

Touching from a Distance by Deborah Curtis,about her life with Joy Divisions late lead singer Ian.Excellent read
The Moons a Balloon by David Niven brilliant insight into the golden years of hollywood
Blessed by George Best. Quite sad really,I read it the week he died made the book quite poingant.Not just for Manu fans either

I used to do it all the time.The only time it spoilt the book for me was Death on the Nile.I've fought the urge ever since.

I like so many different things.Football,Music,History,Action,Horror,Westerns,Comics,Poems and loads of other stuff.Books cover the lot its, like TV for the mind fantastic!

I remember reading this and it scaring the c*** outta me! Fantastic! Just what you want a good horror to do
But if I remember correctly that was a doorstop of a book, (or else my hands were smaller when I read it at that young age ) so you must read really fast to do it in one sitting!Its a class book,I dont think I'm a particularly fast reader but I did'nt know anyone at Innsworth I was stuck in a tiny little room on my own no tv nowt. so I bought the book opened it and closed when I was finished.It helps that it was a very fast paced book. I must read it again some time

Give them a try - star with Bitten and see how you go. Or you could always try her new "hitwoman" series and start with Exit Strategy - the sequel is out later this year.
I really like the sound of Exit Strategy,I think I'll just give them a try regardless of the pigeon holes they have been placed in.

I quite like the Ideas behind these books and those by other authors similar to her but I'm a little put off by the Vampire chick lit and horror romance thing. Are these books strictly for the girls or do lads enjoy them too.

Pet Semetary by Stephen King (on a lonley day at RAF Innsworth)
a Louis L'amour book on a train journey (the only book I bought at the station and left on a train after finishing it,wished I had'nt because I cant remember the title,it was 23 years ago though)
Stiff little fingers, song by song by Jake Burns and Alan Parker(I'm pretty sure it was a oner but I was at work at the time!)
a few others would have been done in one sitting if work had'nt got in the way!I think its a really good way to read a book and hope to do it again this year,but with 4 kids running about it may prove difficult.

There are some wonderful graphic novels... It doesn't have to be a last resort
It was'nt a last resort that would have one of my Newcastle United books but the Graphics worked I read about 7 in a two week period.You're right there are some absoloute crackers out there

and I'm still reading Oliver Twist
I even resorted to Graphic Novels to get me going again.
Mind you I did move to Oz and I'm now a full time stay at home Dad so no reading on the train to work or lunch break or tea break or...you get the picture.I want to read at least 15 books this year, some jump from 4 and a half!

one is best,if a book is bit of toughy I'll start somthing a little lighter to break it up a little though

I really want to read this one, but I've yet to obtain it. Have you read either of the books he wrote as Will Kingdom?
I have not read any of his books as Will Kingdom,I've only read Crybbe and Candlenight and I have The Wine of Angels waiting to be read.I'll have to track down some of the Will Kingdom stuff though.

Recently finished Oliver Twist.Which was my 1st Dickens indeed my first classic, shameful at my age..but anyway Oliver Twist is excellent.The characters were brilliant especially Sikes,Nancy and Fagin,Oliver was a bit of a sap though!I'm really looking forward to my next taste of Charles Dickens and I hope to read all his books.
