  1. Bloody hell, I posted my reply to your earlier messages on my profile page first! Silly me! I was going to come and ask you about something when I noticed my slip.

So anyway which bank holiday are you having? We had a bank holiday today, although I have no idea what it was for. I feel a bit uneducated but this is probably the one bank holiday we have that people don't really understand what it's about. At least I hope there are others who don't know ... hihiiii!

Also, I can't stop thinking about tomorrow because Fridays are usually the days when I'm allowed to have something good to eat. I'm thinking popcorn, or chips and dip, or maybe chocolate. Or maybe one of those garlic breads.

Is it just me or is there something on the forum that makes the members' mouths water?

  2. Bloody hell, I'm sure there was a thread yesterday morning that said Tess Gerritsen was going to be a featured author. But now that you brought it up, it might just be that it was an old post and someone had newly posted on it and I thought it was a brand new thread :irked: I couldn't even find the thread anymore even though I searched for it. Oh well, gives me plenty more time to take up on The Surgeon .. :lurker:

The problems that I've been having are of financial and mental type: I haven't been getting the money that I'm due as a student (because of some minor error) and I've been in the midst of a paper war that I've waged against certain bureaucratic instancies! Meaning, I've been awfully poor lately, paying rent late and eating cheap but tasteless food, and not being able to visit BF. But alas! I received a notice last week that money is on its' way (hence a big fat order placed in play.com) and today it finally came and I did a little book shopping. Can't be blamed for that!

    Bloody hell!

I would just like to say that any penis involved conversation was instigated by ii, not me! She used evil tactics (=foreign language)!

Oh my, this is going to be a good day :)

  4. By the way, I hope you don't like Marcus the 'Wolverine'. My friend who's watched the whole season says that one time he started listing the reasons why each and everyone of the housemates were picked for the show, what their roles were supposed to be. And he said that he was picked by the casting team so women would have eyecandy. And my friend said he sounded like he meant it!! I mean c'moon, yuck! Schmuck!

Anyway, glad to hear your mojo's back and you're enjoying Eragon. I think it's too out-there fantasy/sci-fi for me though. I'll be sure to let you know how I liked Dead to the World! (I found it so amusing and endearing when Eric was at Sookie's, watching Buffy and laughing his ass of )

  5. Charm, good mornin luv!

Btw, did you know you've posted a message for peacefield on your own prof page? :)

I just wanted to give you a very special hug today, in the memory of Patrick Swayze :( I read from the In the News -thread how shocked you were about it all and I've been really sad about his death too.

  6. Charm, have you noticed? Tess Gerritsen is going to be a featured author on here :icon_eek: Now I really must read her books.

Wait a second, did you have something to do with her coming here?? I was going to read her books eventually, you didn't have to do this...

  7. Charm!

I'm thinking it might really be time to do that social group thing about Dexter like you suggested ages ago, whadda ya think ;) Go on! Lead us! :D

  8. Charm! :friends0:

I've just been out with a friend, it was a really wonderful sunny day at last and since the weather forecast says it will be raining for the next goodness knows how many days we did a little beer drinking  I miss the forum so much and I'm finding it very weird that I've been so lazy with it the last week. I hope I get my BCF mojo back!! :tong:

I don't even know what you're reading right know! Did you start Twilight?? Or did you go with the next LR book. For a regular Joe it would seem weird to KNOW what the other person's reading but for me it seems weird NOT to know what you're reading, you know? I'm not saying I know what everyone on this forum is reading but bloody hell you and I have a quite similar taste and whatnot and I should know, you know? (I guess I'm a bit tipsy...)

  9. Charm! I feel like something big is about to happen :icon_eek: I don't know what it is. It's really eerie. I cannot see clearly. It has to do with books. And numbers, somehow. It seems like a big milestone, but for what, I don't know! I'm getting goosebumps. When will it happen? Will it separate me from others or will it give me joy?

Wait. I can see the number implyed. It is... yes, it is 1 000. What can it mean???

  10. Charm! I managed to reply to you yesterday - on my own prof page :D This was what I said:

Your OH is truly handy, yes indeed It must be nice to have him aroung Ooh and jets... That must be so nice. I hope you've already tested your ability to read in the new tub

Oh poor Piper Nasty cow gone and dumped on her. Now what's she gonna do if not try to clean herself somehow? Rugs are good for that! I bet she was all puppy eyed when you took a look at her...

But really, if you would like being a designer and you obviously have good taste, have you ever seriously considered doing interior designing? Could it possibly be linked with your OH's letting agency? If the appartment's needed some doing up?

  11. Charm!

Remember I had two friends over last Friday, who kinda interrupted me reading Dead to the World? Well I just grabbed the book to do a little reading and noticed that the cover was stained with beer!! Yuck!! I wasn't drinking any so I know to blame the boy who did! :motz: Fortunately it was only on the cover and I gently washed it off, but it could've gotten on the pages of the book and then it would've never come off!!

By the way, I'm going to let you down now a little. I can't read the book, I'm too excited because today the 4th season of Finnish BB starts and I just can't wait! :D I hope you don't despise me too much because of that

  12. Definitely too late to go back and edit!! :D

Hm although I have to say that seeing this reality show Australian Princess I do get the Kylie thing on one person. I don't know if you've seen it but on one season there was a Kylie on the show and she was pretty whack in the get-go, rather annoying (she improved though). But then again, her surname was Booby so she was cursed right from the birth. Who'd like to be called a stick tit? :( (she has a good sense of humour about it though :))

I think you're a trendsetter with Minogue, I couldn't see it any other way ;)

Edit: Forgot to add, I suppose Kylie is a quite popular name in Australia? I've noticed quite a few Australian Kylies..

  13. Essays?? Now I'm really ashamed of myself!! Redfaced! :lurker: Bloody hell

Those essays of mine warrant nothing, you do as you wish and please take your time, I certainly did

Mmmm tea, I think I need some more nutrition in my system! Have a lovely night at Tescos me luv! :D:hug:

  14. Everything's bound to lose its novelty at one point so you just need to have other good reasons to keep motivated & keep working towards your goal! I'm sure you sisters will kick each other's butt and you won't let the other one give up. Do you have clothes that you used to fit into and would love to wear? I think they're a great motivator. I have loads of nice shirts & dresses from 2006 when I was my thinnest and I just can't wait to get into them.

You might try creating your own weight thread here on the forum?

If you've been really good I'm sure you'll do great tomorrow. And if not you can blame the cycle thing because you know that has happened before! Keep your chin up :smile2:

I personally hate hen nights because it all seems to be about embarrassing the bride to be. When I'm getting married I want a nice weekend with my dearest girlfriends and hopefully we'll do a spa thing with all the nicest treatments. That would be lovely.

  15. Funny we should talk about Newcastle/Brit girls getting drunk, I've got the TV on in the background and there's this document where Michelle Heaton is getting drunk in order to see what it does to women and what's normal drinking and what's binge drinking. Apparently more and more young Brit girls drink massively. I'd like to give a piece of my mind to all those people who think that a girl who's tipsy and maybe even flirty is willing to do anything even though she says NO. I hate those bottom grabbers. I seriously want to slap them on the face.

You have to be kidding me, that can't seriously be your local bookshop!!! I'm so jealous :( You should see ours.... Or even Helsinki's biggest bookstore, it's ridiculous. Maybe you shouldn't come to Finland at all. Ever. I'll just send you postcards =P

I'm glad you're enjoying Let the Right One In :smile2:

By the way, I'm going to visit my parents with BF tomorrow and I'll be away for a couple of days. Hold the fort and behave!

  16. Glad to hear the house is intact and the people too :D Sounds like they had a lot of fun! And the hostess even got time to herself to read books! I was wondering, did you read the first book or the first packet of the books that you got from mail? Because you went ahead and started Dexie already. Bloody hell I can't wait to read Dark+Design myself! But actually I think I'm getting my mojo back, I read 150 pages of the Chelsea Cain book yesterday. It's not the best of crime books and I don't feel like the characters have much depth to them, but I am keen to read on and see what happens! :) So it's good enough.

The housewarming party was a success! I already wrote about it in my thread. The company was good (although I only knew the host+hostess and the people I came with, others were strangers to me), the food was good and the activity was great! I got to play a Finnish game called M

  17. Good Morning! :D

LaGuerta is definitely stupid in general and way too obvious in her sexual advances towards Dexter in the book. It's so embarrassing. I'm glad the TV-series character has more depth to her. I don't like her any better but I do understand her motives sometimes. I'm eager to know where you at right now! You may have even finished the book by now! I've been laying low this weekend, I've popped in a few times but was too lazy to donate any thoughts of my own

What a weird pressie for a 10 year-old  But hey you did read at least some of the books and even enjoyed them so not bad at all really! I tried reading A Christmas Carol last Christmas but it seemed really boring, I hate to admit it  Pickwick Papers sounded so interesting in the blurb that I had to get it but I'm a bit discouraged by your review. I've heard before that it's not the easiest to get into and it's not a very cohesive story so I guess I wasn't totally surprised though.

  18. Good to have you back :D

Sounds like you had a great trip! Although I have to wonder whether Holland has any style at all since you didn't find anything at all except for that broach!! I guess their notion of recreation does not include shopping for anything other than the good ole ganja ;) And at least you saved money, I don't know about Britain but in Finland it's dead expensive to learn how to drive. I was lucky to grow up in a small town where it was cheaper than in the bigger cities. You are going to have so much fun this summer, learning how to drive!! :smile2:

I already finished The Coffin Dancer and posted about it in the Deaver thread. It was incredible! I didn't think Deaver could top The Bone Collector but this one was even better! I so want to read the third Lincoln Rhyme novel soon, I already ordered it online :) Now don't you go reading the spoilers!! I hope you have the chance to finish it soon, I'd love to hear your thoughts!

  19. Goooood morning Charm!

Yep yep, us bookworms will both be fine, it's just a matter of time :) I think this forum has done so much good for both of us. I've never ever been on a forum that's so welcoming and friendly as this! I'll probably never get used to it

I'm a member on a Finnish forum that's for Jane Austen fans but also discusses other literature as well. I was really active on there before I found BCF, but it was kind of embarrasing because there were about 10 other active members and it seemed like they never bought books. I was always posting on What did you buy -thread and soon enough the thread was just a monologue by me! That was so embarrasing... I say once you go BCF, you can never go back. (sorry, that doesn't rhyme!)

I hope you had fun last night with hubby :D

  20. Goooood morning Charm! :D

I was at the library yesterday and noticed a couple of books that sounded great, they were by Chelsea Cain (Heartsick and the sequal, don't remember the name). I searche them at BCF and I noticed that Louise has read the first one and enjoyed it. I also noticed that Heartsick is on your TBR but have you actually read it and if so, would you recommend it? I borrowed them anyway but I'd like to hear your thoughts!

  21. Gosh I've never had that problem of having too much to say on my paper and having to cut down on the material  I think that taking a break from the paper would do you good, you'll have a fresh point-of-view for it after a refreshing break with maybe a recreational read or two ;)

Wow you were quick to start your own blog! But I'm glad you did, I'll be a frequent visitor! I'm off to take a peak at it after finishing this message :smile2:

I had a really quite weekend (after a not so quiet Friday night in a couple of bars) mostly watching TV. I didn't do as much reading as I would have hoped :irked:

  22. Gosh you are organised! How can anyone be done with their shopping already?? I have bought only one present so far and have so many left to buy. As a matter a fact I don't even know yet what to get for the rest. Presents for BF and parents are especially giving me trouble  But this is no news to anyone who knows me, I'm always doing things at the last minute ;)

There is one big problem though; how do I resist the temptation to buy books for everyone? I mean, I know they make great presents but not everyone appreciates books like us :irked: That's pretty selfish!

  23. Haa, my BF is also younger than me! He's 25 and I'm 27 so I know what it's like to have a younger BF. I don't think there are any problems, it would be different if we were still in our teens.

I already started Mitch Albom's Tuesdays with Morrie but it's a short and quick read so I'll be able to move on quickly. I'm going to the library in a while to get The Coffin Dancer since it's there and am probably going to start it next. Yep we should definitely do mini bookclubs on Deaver! But would you already be up for The Coffin Dancer?

I'm glad you liked Interview with the Vampire :smile2: Yes it was a bit heavy at times, especially after Louis and Claudia left Lestat behind but otherwise it was brill! I also had to get The Vampire Lestat for myself so I guess we could do mini book club on that one too :D It's like girls living together, they start to be in sync with their periods - we on the forum are in sync with the books we read!

  24. Haha "Sergant Frankie Sir yes Sir" totally cracked me up 4 chapters of Dex is sufficient enough. Carry on! The series is amazing btw, I absolutely adore the woman who plays Deborah, she's amazing. Did you know that the actors who play Dex + Deb were actually dating in real life and I think it was New Years when they eloped

The first book you read on your own was Great Expectations?? I can't imagine that. I didn't read any classics until highschool. You certainly did go about it the wrong way By the way, what do you think of A Tale of Two Cities? So far it's the only Dickens I've ever read though I wish eventually to read every book he ever wrote. That's one of the absolute best books I've ever read, it was so amazing and touching. I fell in love with Sydney Carton. He made me cry loads <3

Which Dickens would you recommend next? Not that I'm going to read him anytime soon but I'm curious. I have The Pickwick Papers and Nicholas Nickleby on my shelf :)
