  1. Thank you all for such a warm welcome :] Oh, and yay for the Gilmore Girls love (and anti-Biomed vibe , haha)!
  2. Haha, I know. He's definitely worth watching any film for <3 Hmm, I always assumed the beginning was set now and then she jumped forward 20 years. I don't know for sure because I didn't read it all that closely, lol.
  3. Gaaah, I love Robin Hood! Jonas Armstrong and Richard Armitage are love xD I think the series is decent, though my favourite all time Robin Hood adaptation will always be the movie version starring Kevin Costner and Alan Rickman. The costumes sometimes bother me a bit, especially Marian's, but the show makes up for it in other ways. I'm still bummed by the season two finale :[ They better make up for it! There seems to be a lot of Will love in here xD Have you heard about Richard the Lionheart documentary starring Harry Lloyd? Heroes and Villains: Richard the Lionheart for info! I'll definitely be recording it when it finally airs :]
  4. I've read a few of her books but the only one I've enjoyed is P.S I Love You. The film is a decent enough adaption, though it was helped greatly by Gerard Butler <3 (even if his accent was a bit rubbish). Her other books haven't really lived up the hype, especially Where Rainbows End. Most of that book was IM conversation, which I found a bit dull. I couldn't even get through If You Could See Me Now, but apparently the ending makes up for it? I've heard they're doing an adaption of it too, starring Hugh Jackman .. so I may have to go and see it
  5. Hahah, it's good to know I'm not alone! It is really hard to keep bigger books looking neat, though most of my larger books are hard back so it's easier. Another thing that bothers me about hard-backs though is the covers! I usually take them off but they just seem like such a waste, lol. Grrr, hunt down the book stealers! Fortunately, I've not had that problem; I think I'm too persistent to lose them, haha. I'm the 'Are you done yet?!' sort of person, haha.
  6. If there's a similar thread to this and/or this is in the wrong section, feel free to disregard it :] I really am wondering whether I have a bit of an OCD about my books, or if I'm in the majority in wanting to keep them in a good condition. I don't have a problem with lending my books to people, unless it's an all time favourite and I'm always flicking back to it (I tend to lend books and then have a sudden urge to start reading it at a stupid hour xD). However, my biggest pet peeve is when people bend the pages back to read it and ruin the spine. It seriously makes me cringe, and not even when it's one of my books, haha. Are you ever weary about lending books to people? I don't have a problem with it if they're a good friend, but I sort of expect people to respect them. Or am I just really obsessed and it's just about getting the story rather than preserving the quality of the book? It doesn't even have to be a pet peeve about lending books - would you ever write in your copies to point out your favourite passages? Or fold the page over to keep your place?
  7. Mine are kept on two shelves, but they're definitely near breaking point! I also have two boxes that are crammed with books/dvds/cds but those are mostly books I didn't really like or don't plan on re-reading; I just don't have the heart to throw any of them away! I'm either going to get a new shelf, or wait till I move out and get a huge book cabinet from Ikea.
  8. Yeah, I'm a hypocrite because I judge books by their covers Haha, I jest. Anywhoo, I'm really chuffed that I've stumbled on this place; there aren't enough forums that cater for general book lovers instead of on a certain fandom/author/series! I want to say that I read lots, though saying that to a forum of book lovers might not mean all that much, hahaha. I do always take a book when I leave the house, just in case the occassion arises, haha. I'm a regular Rory Gilmore, and only Gilmore Girl fans will get that reference ;] My favourite book, at least at this moment, is Atonement by Ian McEwan. It seems to get a lot of flack because of the ending, but I happen to think it was a perfect finish. I'm all for my bittersweet, angst-riddled endings! I also have way too many book crushes than can be considered healthy, but hopefully I'm preaching to the converted? Other than that my bookcase is filled with mainly fantasy, historical and romance novels; I am trying to branch out into different genres though, so I'll be scowering this place for some good recommendations! I'm the type of person who has way too many books that she has 'yet to read' because I'm a compulsive book buyer. I do read them (and generally finish them because I have an OCD when it comes to getting to the end) but I usually add two books to the pile by the time I've finished one I'm currently reading The Other Boleyn Girl, and re-reading Twilight (and I'm not even going to call it a guilty pleasure because I'M PROUD xP). Next on my list of must reads are: Helen of Troy by Margaret George, The Boleyn Inheritance and The Virgin's Lover by Philippa Gregory, Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte and The Lovely Bones by Alice Sebold. OHHH, and finish the Time Traveler's Wife and On Chesil Beach! Hah, I like my historical novels. For introduction I've done this pretty backwards because now I'll insert some personal stats, hah. I'm Natalie, I'm eighteen and currently residing in jolly ol' England :] I'm in university studying English and History, both of which I love with a passion (I say this because I was originally down for a Biomedical degree and ended up changing, pretty spur of the moment, much against most people's wishes). Anywhoo, I'm really looking forward to exploring the people, swapping recs and meeting new people :]
