  1. I really enjoyed it too. I didn't mind not knowing when it was set either. I felt it perhaps added an element of intrigue.
  2. My husband loves to read as well, although not quite as much as me. He definitely doesn't think I read too much, and will often buy me books if he sees them and thinks I will like them.
  3. I'm really glad you enjoyed it - I will have to bump it up my to-be-read pile!
  4. I'm not a big fan of (auto)biographies, but I have got the Deborah Spungen book on my tbr 'And I Don't Want To Live This Life' - which I think is the one you mentioned Frankie? I want to get round to it soon.
  5. I bought The Big Sleep recently. Hoping to read it soon.
  6. I've read a couple of Victoria Holt books - they are really really good.
  7. Oh dear, I should be hanging my head in shame. I tend to buy about 4 or 5 books a week, and despite reading constantly, I can't read them all as quickly as that. However, I really do intend to stop buying any for at least a couple of months, and then try and reduce the amount I buy - honest!

    Hi!

    Hi Amakash, and welcome:)
  9. This book tells the story of the Rubin family, a well respected Jewish family headed up by the matriarch, Claudia Rubin, Rabbi, author and minor celebrity. Outwardly, life appears to be terrific for the Rubins, but on the wedding day of Leo, the eldest son, Leo bolts, and runs away with another Rabbi
  10. I enjoyed this very much. I remember trying to work out when it was set, as there is no actual references in the book with regard to the era.
  11. The only one of hers I've read is Light on Snow, which I really liked. I have A Wedding in December on my tbr.
  12. I always read a series of books like the Banks books in order. Banks is one of my favourite fictional detectives; he's a lot more of a sympathetic character than say, Rebus. I thought Gallows View and A Dedicated Man were both brilliant.
  13. Oh yes, I've just seen that you live in West Sussex. We go through Kidderminster quite often. It's nice, but I think I would prefer West Sussex!

  14. Hi,

Yes, not far away - about 10 minutes in the car. In fact, my husband used to live in Kidderminster! I live in Wordsley, Stourbridge now. Do you live in Kidderminster?

  15. I have seen it - I think he's such a fab actor (and I have a long standing crush on him too, I must admit). 21 Grams is one of my favourite movies.
  16. Just beans on toast tonight, with brown sauce. Yum:)
  17. Betty Blue by Philippe Dijan. I also love American Psycho, and To Kill A Mockingbird.
  18. I was just going to post about Swimming with Sharks. It's such a brilliant film! Benicio Del Toro is in it too. I have almost all of his movies.
  19. I've read Esme Lennox - great book. I also read My Lover's Lover, a couple of years ago. I really enjoyed it, although I think Esme Lennox had the edge. I have After You'd Gone, on my tbr.
  20. I watched Studio 60, and quite enjoyed it. It was nice to see Matthew Perry play a regular role that wasn't Chandler. Have you ever seen Sports Night? It was made before West Wing, but was an Aaron Sorkin show.
  21. Oh I forgot West Wing. My husband has the entire series on DVD, and watches them regularly.
  22. Not watched it. I like Adrian Lester though, so I might enjoy it.
  23. Hi Boo:D I'm like you - I can't bring myself not to finish a book once I've started it. I'm sure you will love it here.
  24. I'm very excited about Treme, and have been reading up on it today! I don't know if you've read the two books he wrote - Homicide: A Year on the Killing Streets (which Homicide: LOTS was based on), and The Corner (there was a mini series made of this, which I have at home, and is well worth watching). They are both excellent reads.
