Any book which references countless dates of musical facts/political facts..etc arrgh!!

Oh i do it all the time, i get novel amnesia so it saves my pennies if i'm bored and bookless. mainly its all the Harry Potters, The mamoth Hunters and the shelters of stone by Jean Auel. Occasionally i revisit a pratchett book but i think i'd reread any book i enjoyed if enough time had elapsed.

I was watching saturday kitchen one day and Ken Hom said you can put a wok on the bbq. It could be quite nice to do something like a mini stir fry with a bbq type sauce over it.

I am reading Hunter S Thompsons autobiography but that will be the first and the last. It is good btw.

I won't read Steven King, i've seen the films and thought they were either pants or too disturbing so i've never bothered with the books. I won't read chick lit, ever. I won't ever go near Jade Goodys or Posh's biography and i pray for the day they emigrate or decide to become hermits.... and i won't ever read the idiots guide to microsoft windows/excell, the history of physics or a journey of the mathematical world.

Sounds really good, like the film Battle Royale but with more substance. *trots off to ebay to get it*

Thanks for that. Now i have yet another book on my list lol. I can deal with another Victor Victoria (or whatever it is he calls this one) it's the codes i like. It's a lazy crossword, you can have a stab at it but you don't feel pressured cause you know you'll find out in the end and it's not cheating.

I haven't read Digital Fortress Kell and would appreciate it greatly if you would give a brief outline of the book before i look into it. I have so many others on my list that i feel a little overwhelmed. :read: :paper: :read: :read: :paper: :read: :read:

Same as Aces said, i did book club forum search and here i am. I doub't i'll get bored on here. BB forum only has so many topics you can discuss daily and everyone seems to give an opinion without saying why or how they came to it. doesn't leave much room for chat as i don't read minds. the possibilities for discussion are infenite on here which is great. btw...did i spell infenite right cause it looks a bit kooky. :?

I got incredibly bored on a big brother forum (but saying that i've got incredibly bored of big brother) so i did a google on book clubs. this was the first that it churned up. smashing sooper i don't feel particularly bad for deserting the other forum either, naughty wicked, guiltless me.... i need a devil emoticon!!

Oh dear. My nan used to tell me that if i didn't have anything nice to say then not to say it at all. but that would make for a quiet forum. My neighbour gave me Beneath The Skin to read and i pittered out halfway through. I was surprised to hear that these books were written by 2 people as it felt like all the characters were slightly one dimensional(sp?). We all have a different way of thinking, opinions, likes etc but all the characters seemed to be heading in the same direction with regards to their logical thought processes even though they were from different backgrounds. i would have enjoyed it more if there was a more diverse psychological profile for the characters. It seemed if they all got together with a therapist then they would see each others viewpoint quite easily.... murderer included. Sorry, i am open to suggestions of other books they have written if i read a dud but until then i'm sticking to my Jeffery Deaver's and Ian Rankins.

I think it depends what you're looking for in a book to be honest. I enjoyed the weaving of fact and fiction in Da Vinci code but i understand why folks prefer Angels and Demons. It seemed to me that A&D was heavily influenced by too many Indiana Jones movies and every twist seemed a little familiar but i had read it very soon after Da Vinci. Also i had watched a film called National treasure a week prior and although i'm sure the film took it's ideas from the book, with it being the former that i had watched before A&D it made the book very familiar. Perhaps if my reading choice was reversed i would feel a little different, but either way both are good and i like a little religious contraversy. The difference between my preference is negligible.

I haven't had the pleasure of seeing the film as i came across the book first. The brief scan of the pages plus ex blokes love for it has been enough to put me off seeing it lol. Funnily enough i find myself reading books that end up as films, it's uncanny. It happened with the beach, the bone collector and a random Ian Rankin novel to name but a few. Usually i prefer the books but i have been inspired to read Hunter S Thompsons works after watching Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas.

I've found a nice site which has a description of the herbs Ayla used in the book, also with it are the passages from when they are taken. The links are top right and listed alphabetically.
