  1. :-D

    returning hugs!

  2. Actually, because I don't work on a Wed or Thurs, it's only one day! :D The funny thing is, I've been persuaded to work for them as a locum nurse for a while! It'll be different though.. it's on my terms, there will be less responsibility, I'm no longer doing the clinic which causes me most stress, plus I can walk away at any point!

I now see it as money in the bank, so I can cut back in the summer. :)

  3. Ah.. I'm 35, I left '89 (didn't do 6th form, went to college for a year). I certainly remember Mr Dennis.. and especially Mrs Dennis! Mrs Norton was our form teacher most of the way through.. and for German of course, which I was rubbish at! It's surprising how you forget all the names!

Are you still in this area?

  4. Ahh, I thought it was.. I'm getting good at spotting an author. :D

When you get a visitor message, if you click on 'View Conversation' then post your reply, it will appear on the other person's profile, and they receive a notification. :) It confuses most people.

  5. Be quiet! I am stuck at work until 6pm, and I'm NOT happy!!

    :tong:

  6. Can I please draw your attention to the following in the guidelines...

Whilst we're happy for people to have a link to their own book blogs in their signatures, can I please ask that when discussing a book on the forum, can you include your thoughts here, instead of simply directing people to a review on your own blog.

The aim of the forum is to promote discussion, and that isn't going to happen if people are encouraged to visit book blogs, and leave comments there instead.

  7. Eek! You wrote that in a public message! The Shame! LOL

It's better, but I'm not sure it's completely gone. :(

  8. Hi - all we know so far is that she has a haematoma and an infection, and will need more surgery on it.

It's hard having them both ill at the same time, but Glen seems ok at the moment.

  9. Hi - I got fed up last night, and took myself off to bed early! I'm glad to hear the headaches are a bit better. Let me know what the doc suggests next.

Unfortunately I've only seen the physio once, and he hasn't suggested anything nice like massage! He basically gave me exercises to stretch out my legs, bum and lower back.. I can feel the pull when I do them, but I'm not convinced they're actually helping. I'm not sure if it's worth paying for a osteopath.. I'd need one recommended to me though, as I'm scared of anyone making it worse!

I hope your day is going good. Hugs!

  10. Hi - I have 2 kids, so there's not much time whilst on holiday to read. I did manage to read Ring, and listened the end of the BBC dramatisation of War of the Worlds. :)

The holiday was lovely.. going to back to work this week has been horrid!

  11. Hi - I moved your post for you, but with so much activity on the forum, I don't always get to read everything, and see requests like that.

With that in mind, we have a specific 'Ask the Mod' thread, which has proved useful.. bookclubforum.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?t=7814 :)

  12. Hi - I've merged your mention of Handling the Dead with an existing thread. Please take a moment to search, thank you.

  13. Hi - if you want to quote what someone else has said, just click on the button in the bottom right hand corner of their post, which says 'Quote'. :)

If you're still having trouble with the general workings of a forum, you may find the FAQ useful..

  14. Hi - thank you for the message, that made me laugh! Yes, leaving work is defintely my choice. However, I'm going to be staying there for a while, but as a locum nurse rather than a permanent one. It sounds odd, but it really does help me, and should improve things.

    How's everything with you?

  15. Hi - the point is, what you copied and put in your post is the published product description, and it's available on loads of book sites - anyone going online to buy the book will probably read it.

Spoiler tags should be for information in a book that you can only find out by reading it.. that sort of thing.

  16. Hi - yes, I'm doing better - it was so nice to sleep in a bit this morning! I have a week off now, and it couldn't have come at a better time!

Beth had to do Verbal Reasoning and Non Verbal Reasoning. The former looks at all sorts of word patterns, relationships etc, and she got top marks in it. I've seen such an improvement in that sort of area.. she's reading more, writing stories etc, and really enjoying it. :)

Verbal reasoning is the sort of thing you see in IQ tests, and is all about working out patterns and sequences. I find them quite hard, but she did well.

Anyway, it's been a hectic week, but I think we now know what order we're putting the schools in. It's a scary thought though, sending my 'baby' to the big secondary school! lol

As for yourself, you need to get yourself back to a good sleep pattern young lady!;)

  17. Hi - you would need to post it the 'Writers Corner' - bookclubforum.co.uk/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=18

Once there, just look for the blue button near the top which says 'New Thread'. :)

  18. Hi Andrea. :) I haven't been able to spend much time of the forum at all, let alone the 'what's up' thread! Work has calmed down a little, but they're still putting more and more work on me, with no thanks or pay rise!

Thanks for the congrats - I'm very proud of her, and now hoping that we get in the local Grammar, and that she likes it. :D

    How is everything with you??

  19. Hi Jennifer - If you take a look at our rules and guidelines, we do ask that people don't join just to promote a book, plus new members are not allowed to include links.

We'd love to see you take part as a regular member, but your initial post has been removed because of the above reasons.

  20. Hi Ken,

A few things: a) your profile is ok, as long as you remain an active member :) b) you can't edit until you have 10 posts (see our guidelines) c) please search for existing threads before posting.

  21. Hi Roxi.. I don't think I'll be much help with this one. Not only because it could be all sorts of things, but also because I get the same sort of symptoms, and I'm not sure what's wrong with myself!

By wooziness, do you mean feeling light headed? That could be low blood pressure. Does it happen when you stand up too quick at all? Tiredness, as I'm sure you know, can be all sorts of things, including anaemia, depression, low thyroid etc. As for your eyes, are you getting headaches, or just sore eyes? Have you had a recent eye test?

I'm afraid the doc is the best answer, and he'll probably start with various blood tests.

Hope you feel better soon! xx

  22. Hi, As you've listed 5 books, your post was much better suited for our BCF Top 20 thread, found here.. http://www.bookclubforum.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/5137-bcfs-20-books-everyone-should-read-2010/

The 'Reading Logs' section is more for people to keep a record of what they're reading over time, or want to read.. that sort of thing. Thanks, Michelle

  23. Hi, nice to see someone so local.. I'm actually in Dartford. :)

We're having a little meet up in Bluewater this Saturday, if you'd like to come and say hello. I can't post links in here, so go to General Chat, and look for 'South East Meet?'

  24. Hi! Thanks for popping by! :D Yes, the migraine today was not good.. and bad timing too. My triptan didn't work, so I spent a couple of hours feeling very rough, and then the rest of the day still not that great!

As for you, did you feel as if you needed a cry? I always look and feel bad after crying too.. so attractive! lol

I am very proud of Beth. We found out the actual scores yesterday, and although she was weak at Maths, the other two subjects were really good scores. I wasn't at all keen on her teacher last year, and I'm sure her maths fell behind a bit because of that. She's apparently making rapid progress this year, so that's good.

Other than that, work continues to be a pain, but a bit less than it was. It goes in waves there, so it won't be long before I'm screaming again!:lol:

I hope all is well with you - are you sleeping better?
