Hi I am new on this forum. I am reading the book of paulo coelho titled the Spy, on the first paragraphe of this book i dont understand this sentence : "I have always been an optimistic women, but time has left me bitter, alone, and sad. " I can't find the relation between the first part of the sentence (optimism) and the seconde one (time). Thanks.
