I have re-discovered the Pettson & Findus series. By Swedish author/illustrator Sven Nordqvist (has been translated to other languages).

About an old lonely (Pettson) man and his cat Findus. The books are fantastic. Sure, they are for children, but so much is going on in the illustrations that you can just look at a picture for several minutes and discover more details. Like the tiny creatures that are effected by everything Pettson & Findus does, but Pettson does not know of their existance.

I love the books and remember being very scared of the fox and the fake hen in the book above as a child.

There are lots of scary things when your are a child... :)

I still can't grasp that I used to watch X-files and Millennium when I was way too young for them.
