Virginia Posted November 2 Posted November 2 About 20 years ago, I came across a historical romance. I bought the book, loved the book, and then LOST the book. However, I cannot remember the name of the book. It was the turn of the century in America, Connecticut, New Hampshire, or somewhere like that. It was about an abused girl who was put out to service in a wealthy mansion. She was exceptionally beautiful, and so caught the eye of the young son. He eventually married her. They had children, and then he cheated on her with her "best friend." During the story, we see America change and grow. Her husband grew in stature while she was ignored and scorned because of her background. Even her children were ashamed of her. She had a beautiful spirit and was a gentle and kind soul who thought this was only what she deserved. I know it's a long shot, but maybe someone has read it? Quote
