Madeleine Posted October 30 Posted October 30 I've decided to read "Catching the Eagle" by Karen Charlton, which is based on the real-life story of how one of her husband's ancestors was hunted down by the law, after carrying out what was then the largest robbery in Northumberland, and carries on with a fictionalised account of his trial. 2 Quote
itsmeagain Posted November 3 Posted November 3 Charlton is a major Northumbrian name, like Robson. The Charlton brothers were from Ashington. Quote
Madeleine Posted November 3 Posted November 3 The house which was robbed is Kirkley Hall, which is now a zoo and training college, near Ponteland. Quote
Hayley Posted November 6 Posted November 6 I decided to go for The Suspicions of Mr Whicher, which I am enjoying, but it's so densely packed with all the details of the case (and history of the detective) that it feels like it's taking a while to get through it! Quote
Madeleine Posted November 6 Posted November 6 That's why I gave up on it, she kept getting side-tracked and giving lots of details about witnesses and their history, which didn't seem to have any relevance to the case. Way too much info for me. Quote

Way too much info for me. I’m still hoping that it’s all going to become relevant and tie up at some point. But some parts do feel like a big info dump!
