I was released from the hospital Friday afternoon. I have two separate issues with my heart. The issue that put me in the hospital was a Cardiac Syncope while I was taking a morning shower. No physical activity for a while and no driving for 6 months (can have on-going discussions with my cardiologist on this item).

Muggle, I'm so sorry to read this. I hope you are feeling and doing better now you are home. Must have been a frightening experience.

I do hope that 'can have on-going discussions with my cardiologist on this item' does not mean "I will badger my cardiologist until he gives in." ! That term sounded remarkably like something my husband would say, but I know what he would mean by that. 🙂 I do understand that it will be annoying and inconvenient for you not to be able to drive, but your safety and wellness comes first.

Take very good care of yourself, and do keep us updated. xx

Oh I’m also sorry to hear this! Did they discover the second issue because of the syncope? If so, at least they know about it now and can treat it. Although it must be really annoying to have your ability to drive taken away for a while :(.

Oh Muggle! I've just seen this! I was thinking you hadn't posted on the song thread so went searching for you.

I really hope you're doing OK, I always find heart issues scary because they make you feel so weird.

Take very good care, sending lots of love and hugs and please keep us updated xxx

Crikey!

Can this be medicated?

The doctors are hopeful that it can be medicated. i have been put on 3 different new medications to treat it.

Do they know what caused it?

They believe that it was caused by Atrial Fibrillation and a very low drop in blood pressure. Info:

Normally, your heart contracts and relaxes to a regular beat. In AFib, the upper chambers of the heart, or the atria, beat irregularly. Because not enough blood is being pumped out of the atria, blood pools in the area. The pooled blood can clot – which can be extremely dangerous.

If a blood clot forms, it can be pumped out of the heart to the brain. This blocks the blood supply to the brain and causes a stroke.

About 15% to 20% of people who have strokes have this heart arrhythmia. The clot risk is why patients with this condition are prescribed blood thinners*.

Untreated AFib doubles the risk of heart-related deaths and is associated with a fivefold increased risk for stroke. Yet many people are unaware that AFib is a serious condition.

Chrissy - now do you think I would badger the cardiologist. (at least not until my appointment with him on April 25th.) 😉

No, they noticed some issues and then did a echocardiogram and followed it up with a heart catheterization where they found blockage in a good number of my arteries.

Thanks poppy! I am wearing a heart monitor for 2 weeks. I was very lucky that I didn't hit my head in the shower when I passed out. It was somewhat scary when I regained some consciousness and could not get up off the shower floor. My GD flew down from NYC and is spending 1 week and a half with us to help out.

Thanks everyone for you concern and posts. I appreciate it.

Hope your new meds are very successful in treating your issues.

Lovely you've got such a caring granddaughter, I'm sure you'll enjoy having her with you.

Hope you are on the mend. What does 'no physical activity for a while' mean?

Examples: No lifting over 3 lbs.  No mowing the lawn. Nothing strenuous.

That sounds really scary, as you say, a good job you didn't hit your head. My friend has Atrial fib, in her case it's hereditary.

I hope you’re having a nice relaxing Easter weekend now. It’s great that you have an extra pair of hands there while you recover!

Hey @muggle not how are you doing?

I stopped wearing the monitor on Friday and sent it in for them to see what it shows. I also have an appointment with my Cardiologist in 10 days.

This coming Friday I have an appointment with an eye specialist about my Macular Degeneration and will get another injection in the eye. 🙁

I hope the monitor results bring good news.

The MD eye injections must be unpleasant to experience. I would want a pleasant treat of 'something' to look forward to after that kind of appointment.

Thank you for the update, it stops me fretting!

Really hope it's good news from the monitor or something easily treatable. I really don't envy you the eye injections! Is it painful? Very hard not to blink when someone pokes something in your eye 😳

The first shot was painful. On Friday I get my second shot and i will see how painful it is as I am seeing a specialist that my ophthalmologist is having me see..

It is strawberry season here. I am working on my second gallon bucket. They are big and taste wonderful!. I have a big load of them on my cereal every morning. 🍓

May be an image of strawberry

Ouch! Hearing about your eye shot put a shudder through me. The only consolation I imagine, is that the shot should be doing some good.

My goodness, your strawberry photo is so good I could almost taste them. I can provide my address if required! 🍓

My sister has been going for these for a while and she is terrified of anything touching her eyes! On the last one they told her they were happy she doesn’t need any more injections though :). Hopefully you won’t need too many either!

Those strawberries look amazing. It’s still too cold here but you’ve got me looking forward to strawberry season! I grew strawberries in a hanging basket last year and it worked really well, so I might add one or two this year 😄.

Those strawberries look SO delicious! What variety are they? We have a strawberry farm not far away, they're nice, but not as good as the ones we used to get.  They grow them outside hydroponically, I think, which may have something to do with it.

The strawberries really are delicious.

Growing them in a hanging basket sounds like a good idea.

I don' know what variety these strawberries are as my neighbor has been getting them for me since I am not allowed to drive "YET".

Went to the eye specialist today and am glad I have her as my doctor. Good news, the injection itself did not hurt but my eye was sore afterwards and still is a little. Better news, the Macular Degeneration is now not as bad as in my first examination and she has now said that my next shot can be 8 weeks from now instead of 4.
