And we had roach stuff everywhere, under the beds etc. The humidity was off the scale. What we had here the other day came close but thankfully is still quite rare. Nothing quite like having a flying Palmetto bug aiming for your head!
Madeleine
Most of the ones we had were on the ground, including a dead one in the garage! Never seen one in flight, they must look like a small kite coming towards you.
lunababymoonchild
We are far too hot and dry but glad that we have had some rain after the first heatwave and grateful that, again, it's not as hot where we are as it is in England and Wales - I hope that everybody who is affected is taking care. Virginia
Today is a dreary, cool, rainy Harry Potter/LOTRs kind of day. And I'm perfectly OK with that! Although I must admit, it's rather unusual for South Carolina in August.🙃
Madeleine
Just back from a week in Devon, for once picked the right week and spent the 4 day heatwave on the coast and in the sea, bliss! Nights were still pretty uncomfortable though. The weather broke on Monday and we had a storm in the afternoon, came home yesterday, rained a bit on the way back, but today it's been stormy all afternoon, with heavy rain - at least I won't need to water the garden! A lot of plant dead heading to do though.
lunababymoonchild
It's very nice indeed to be cooler in temperature and to have had some rain. Our rain was steady so didn't cause any floods.
poppy
We have had pretty constant rain for days and more predicted through until after the weekend. So far we're faring well but a nearby city has serious flooding with hundreds of evacuations.
Kudz
We’ve got a beautiful day here today, blue skies and sunshine. Feels very autumnal!
Madeleine
Much duller today, so far though meant to get warmer. The nights are certainly getting dark earlier - by 8.30 last night, and today is the first day of meteorological autumn.
Virginia
Waiting thru Hurricane Ian. It's cold, wet, windy, and wretched. But I'm thankful that so far we haven't lost electricity although at last county, over 200k in my state (South Carolina) and as of 1700 Eastern time it just made landfall at a Cat 1 but it's slow moving. Madeleine
Had quite a bit of rain here yesterday but nothing like where you are Virginia - stay safe and dry! Much nicer today and surprisingly warm, so far anyway.
lunababymoonchild
We have had much in the way of rain today and yesterday, I'm glad to say. No danger of flooding, though so we are alright.

Madeleine
It's lovely and warm today, I'm wearing a T shirt! It did rain last night though so it's still a bit damp.
lunababymoonchild
We seem to be having constant rain. Except, for a change, when we go out. It's warm for the time of year, here but the rain makes it feel chilly
MikeWilson
Today has been very hit and miss, some sunshine at times but also grey and overcast with some rain at others. Also the clocks went back in the UK last night as Daylight Saving ended so we are plunged into darkness now until March - not mentally ready for late autumn/winter at all ❄️😂
Virginia
Grey, rainy, chilly weather. Perfect Sunday weather for staying in and cozy. Hubby lit the fireplace. I didn't think it was cold enough but my mother in law was her and he wanted to make sure she was warm enough. My four-legged son loved it! Saturday was glorious and I even had tea in the garden, watching a parakeet pecking at an apple in our neighbour's tree.
Kudz
I’m usually complaining the weekend is over too fast, but yesterday was the longest day ever! We did go through a cold spell, but it’s been a fair bit milder for the last week or so, which is good as we’re trying to avoid putting the heating on for as long as possible! We have had a lot of rain recently though, but today hasn’t been too bad. A bit damp but otherwise not too bad a day for the time of year. Madeleine
It was lovely and sunny this morning, but changed gradually during the afternoon, and rained quite heavily from about 5.00 onwards ,which I think has deterred trick or treaters! Loads of fireworks going off though. Looks like the rest of the week will be wet and windy.
Virginia
Today is the first day it's not only FELT like fall, but LOOKED like fall! When you live in the southern parts of the US, you take the "fall" feeling where and when you can get it! 😆Lots of swirling, colorful leaves, windy, and cool. I am content. Especially since the rest of the week looks to be almost the same, except for some rain tomorrow.
Madeleine
We've had rain nearly all day, a few breaks when it's been sunny but it's been chillier and windier. It's rained pretty much constantly since Saturday, meant to get a bit drier from tomorrow.
muggle not
Parts of New York State are getting over 5 feet of snow!!! Dangerous lake-effect storm paralyzes parts of New York state with more than 5 feet of snow (cnbc.com)
Madeleine
It's definitely winter - thick frost this morning, and I had to de-ice the windscreen! Lovely sunny day though, much nicer without yesterday's bitterly cold wind.
