Raven
I couldn't find a thread where this fit, so: Amazon accidentally leaks its own second generation Kindle Paperwhite. I like the new features, but I think I prefer the look of the existing Paperwhite.
Raven
Curse you! I've tried posting about this twice this evening only to have my computer crap out both times!
dex
Calm down, as an impartial judge, you could buy me one and I'll let you know. ;-) Is it advisable to have unlimited data? Edited September 3, 2013 by dex
Michelle
This is so annoying - every time there's a new e-reader out, I think it may be 'the one'. I've had a traditional kindle, a tablet, and a mini kobo, and I still can't enjoy using them. I have to have a light on my kobo, so maybe the paperlight is the way to go? Curse you ebooks! Karsa Orlong
I've pre-ordered one. I want to upgrade - but I might change my mind between now and November 6th.
Athena
I'm very happy with my Paperwhite, but who knows I might be tempted to buy another one at some point. Especially since I've used up most of the space on it (I have some books with illustrations, and some free Kindle books). The new one looks good, I like the new features. Karsa Orlong
I've used up most of the space on it Blimey But then you can just delete books you no longer want to keep on it. If ever you want to go back to them you can just download them again from your Amazon account
Athena
I know, and the ones I didn't like can be easily deleted, but I'd like to keep the ones I like, just in case I want to read them when I don't have an internet connection. That's probably silly, though. It's good that you can redownload them from Amazon .
Karsa Orlong
I hope they bring the Matchbook feature to the UK, sooner or later.
Little Pixie
I hope they bring the Matchbook feature to the UK, sooner or later. Ooh, what a great idea !
Athena
^ that would be nice! I think for me it won't be useful as I have to buy Kindle ebooks from Amazon.com and I buy physical books from Amazon.co.uk, so the same thing probably won't apply. But for those it will apply to, great. I think it's an excellent idea . I read that Amazon might eventually update the firmware of the original Kindle Paperwhite, to include some of the new features (those that are possible). I don't know if this'll be true or not, but it's exciting, I would love that.
pontalba
I hope they bring the Matchbook feature to the UK, sooner or later. WOW! I had not seen the advert for this. Verra cool! I have the original kindle with keyboard, but had lusted for the Kindle Fire for ages. Finally bought it a few months ago. Love, love, love it. One thing that had held me back was the fear the backlighting would be a strain on my eyes, I'd heard about that. But. It doesn't strain, at all, that I can tell. Plus a neat feature is that you can change the background from white to a sepia sort of color, and of course size the font as you wish. It is very easy on the eyes, IMO. Which one do you prefer for reading ? `Cos I`d decided on getting the Kindle Paperwhite this Xmas, but if it`s as easy to read on the Kindle Fire, I think I`d be better off going for that one ( I`ve bought lots of CDs on Amazon and recently uploaded them to that Cloud Player thingy, which apparently you can access via the Kindle Fire - that would be handy to listen to my classical CDs in bed rather than have Classic FM on at night whilst I read ). Hmm...
Karsa Orlong
Do you have one of these stores near you, Sarah? You could go and have a look at them and see which you like best
Michelle
Waterstones are probably a good place to try them all out.

Hmm... I actually seem to prefer the Kindle Fire. With the colored screen, readings a snap. I went back to my old kindle for something a couple of weeks ago, and was kind of disappointed. Now, that said, I haven't ever seen or tried the Paper White, so can't comment about that one. I've heard good things though. muggle not
My wife and I both have a Kindle Fire and we love ours. It has increased my reading speed and enjoyment tremendously. I wouldn't trade it for any of the current stuff. I do enjoy the different lighting schemes and font size options. Like pontalba.....love it, love it, love it. Little Pixie
Many thanks everyone. I hadn`t realised that they were available outside of the Amazon website, so that`s great.

Little Pixie
Thanks Steve, that`s hugely helpful. The book I`m reading atm has one of those issues ; I keep having to flip to the start to recall which character is which. Love the vocab builder too. Little Pixie
Well, Amazon have now knocked £30 off the Kindle Fire, so I`ve ordered one. I was going to try them out in town but haven`t managed to get in for ages, so I`ll wing it, based on recommendations on here. I added the extra £10 so that I don`t get the ads.
