Can't remember title of book about girl abused by her father

Hi All,

 

New to this but thought I'd give it a try as I've been trying to find a book I read about ten years ago (I think!).  It told the tale of a young girl (under ten I think) who is abused by her father.  She is an only child of a wealthy respectable couple and she is the apple of their eye. There's not any detail of the abuse just that you know it's happened and it's the trauma of their lives after and the unravelling mystery of who subjected the child to the abuse.  The end result is that it was her father and is very shocking and is totally unexpected.  Think it was by a female author.  Would love to read it again if anyone can help please ???

No that's definitely not it.  Don't think it was very well known and it was either set in the states or UK.
