The Bridge - BBC4

Karsa Orlong

Did anyone else watch this new Scandinavian crime drama at the weekend? Usual BBC4 thing: two episodes each Saturday night. It starts with a body found on a bridge on the border between Sweden and Denmark. I didn't think I was going to like it at first, because I thought the lead actress wasn't very good, but then I realised why that was and I started to really enjoy it. Very funny in places, too.

Episode 2 is repeated tonight, episode 1 and 2 are on iPlayer.

I watched the first two episodes and will catch up on the next two via I-player.

Really enjoying it so far and am wondering how some of the characters will fit into the story (Social worker; the woman married to the heart transplant patient etc). I'm sure all will become clear soon

I thought that the Martin looked like George Galloway, too, Karsa. I also thought he bore a passing resemblance to George Best when he smiled

Yup, I'm really enjoying this series. Flicked onto it as I loved the Yellowbird Wallander's that were on Beeb 4 and had heard good things about The Killing but missed it. The Bridge hasn't disappointed so far - looking forward to next week!

Phew found the spoiler, its been ages since I have said anything worth spoiling

I find the older son of Martin an interesting character I am sure there is more involving him he is definitely suspicious especially as the would be killer (if it was him) knew to kick him where he was cornered in the abandoned warehouse I bet a lot of men winced when that happened

Thanks Pickle for the help...

I'm with you on thinking that the son has something more to be revealed

Also agree that when the guy kicked him even tho I guess it's the obvious place I thought it had to be someone who knew how debilitating it would be at that time. Didn't make a connection between the two tho but makes sense :)

Have got this on the Sky box but haven't got round to watching any of them yet as we're still trying to catch up on other things we've recorded, good to see that everyone is enjoying it though.

Watched the final two episodes last night. Damn, that was good!

That scene at the end, beneath the bridge, was so powerful, so sad, and I loved the way everything came full circle, to Martin's philandering and Saga's inability to tell a lie. I guessed August would be involved somehow, but that was so, so sad.

I felt a bit lost when it ended. I could quite happily have sat through more episodes.

It was brilliant wasn't it, I loved that they weren't afraid to not go all Hollywood

and have August not survive.

they mentioned something about a 2 parter next week, any ideas what??

It's called 'Sebastian Bergman':

"The Cursed, Part 1

Brilliant, difficult and politically incorrect, Sebastian Bergman is one of Sweden's leading police profilers. His life and and career are on the skids when he returns to his home town, two weeks late for his mother's funeral but just in time to help the local police solve the brutal murder of a 15-year-old boy."

I'm doing my impression of the Necromancer and resurrecting this thread :giggle2:

Much excitement when I saw the trailer on tv the other night :exc:

Starts 4th January on BBC4 (in HD!).  They're also repeating season 1 over Christmas, starting next Monday.  'Twas the best thing on tv last year, imo

So behind with TV...

Love this show, particularly Saga and her single-minded pursuit of justice and how she tries so hard to fit in.

Poor Martin indeed. :cray:

Hmm, I wonder who`s behind it all - the husband of the Green company woman who`s so obviously having an affair with the sister ?

You mean the sister who tried to get her sister to have sex with a male escort whom she'd had sex with herself?  Nothing worrying about that at all . . .

Plus, wasn't the sister Brix's girlfriend in The Killing?  She's got no shame!

Thank you Steve - I couldn`t work out where I`d seen her before and forgot to look it up. :D

I bet Danish Equity has about 10 members in all. :giggle:
