  1. Thanks Athena, pesky puppy has decided she prefers 6am these past 2 days, it has been a little colder so maybe I'll try a cosier fleece in her bed tonight.. and maybe try to go to bed a little earlier. That's the bit i'm not so good at as I like to read in bed! I have a soothing voice I use for the dogs, when I use it on the kids they often get nervous though as it's usually be trying to hold my temper in! Obi is just a bundle of nerves when he meets people, unfortunately he shows it by getting grumpy.. he is best ignored then sometimes he will come forth to greet, he can normally suss out a genuine person (especially if they are carrying treats ) I've not tried rolling in fox wee or anything worse, I'm sure she wouldn't be at all offended and would probably try to roll on me! I'm so glad I can't overdose on books, not that there is any danger of that, the speed I am reading at present hee hee! I think I will read Of Mice and Men first of the Steinbecks, I read it as a teen and I'm hoping it will be as good now as it was then.. Maddie had a black biker jacket when she was 8 too and Robbie got his last year! Must be an 8 thing! She was such a tomboy then but that all changed when she was 10 and especially when she went to secondary school. She is very sure about what she likes to wear, how her hair should be and her make up too.. When I was 12 I was wearing my brothers old clothes, not brushing my hair and thought lipstick was for writing notes to my Mum on the bathroom mirror. (Something she wasn't very happy about, don't know why!) My Mum makes a luvverly trifle, no blancmange in sight like my mother in laws thankfully! I should take pictures.. I'll just need to add a strait jackets to my Christmas shopping list so i can keep my Dad away from it long enough.. Must be an Alan thing! Right. I'd better get dressed before I have to take Robbie to school in my P'j's.. to cold for that this morning!
  2. 7. Cry with someone else. It's more healing than crying alone.

  3. Another plus point about Hugh is that Steve used to get told he looked like his double when he was younger, they're not entirely dissimilar now.
  4. Oh no! I love Hugh Laurie and House, I think Hugh is brilliant especially when paired with Stephen Fry and his House character has made me laugh and cry. My only complaint would be that the medical story lines can be a little repetitive but I thought the personal journey that House made through the series was fantastic to watch.
  5. 6. You don't end to win every argument. Agree to disagree.

Great advice again. I've heard people phrase it as 'do you want to be right or do you want to be happy?'.

Ah I like that, I think I'll add that to the list!

  6. Colds are the pits, I swear by taking an echinacea supplement at the first signs of a sniffle and then treat with Manuka honey and lemon.. definitely worth a try if you haven't already. Hope you feel better soon.
  7. I'm sure I saw somewhere that he is in it..

  11. Dreamt about it last night too so definitely stuck with me (unfortunately not including George Clooney though!) Just finalised watching 'Flight' with eldest son (over 3 nights as not suitable for my 2 youngest). Thought it was very good although the ending was a little disappointing.
  12. That's it, you must have read it to get it on that clue?!
  13. 3. Life is too short to waste time hating anyone. Change the way you think.

  14. This was the 2012 Awards, but I do agree with you about those books, they were all excellent!
  15. "*** unrolled the paper, to find it transformed. Little annotations had appeared all over it, together with coloured sketches and arrows. His first thought was that the map was Commonwealth property and that there would be hell to pay next inspection. New names had sprung up everywhere." Any ideas?
  16. Sorry, I'll try and do one in the morning.
  17. I love the Muppet Christmas Carol! Just got back from seeing Gravity in 3D, elder son (14) and myself really liked it, 8 year old son not so keen unfortunately so had to listen to "I'm bored" at frequent intervals!
  18. I'd bet good money this is a Laurell K Hamilton Anita Blake book, one of the first 5 or 6 as I think I stopped then.. Will go with the first one, Guilty Pleasures?
  19. No, I've not read it before but my Dad is a big Stephen King fan (I nearly wrote just King, but then thought you might think my Dad was a fan of the rather naff 80's band. I will try and get to it soon but still in a bit of a reading slump so probably not the best time at present. I am so happy that Jojo is sleeping through though it was a 6 O'clocker this morning as Obi went downstairs early (he sleeps by my bed) and I think he disturbed her. We are hopefully having a private agility lesson this week, with a trainer that has ben recommended to me. I've been told that she can give me a good start into the sport and give me lots of things to work on until Jojo is old enough to start properly, we're very excited! Thanks, I just need to stop now!! Only 37 now!!! I prefer to think of it as 5 weeks, sounds more manageable. We still don't know if Steve will be home for the big day yet so I may need to have it all ready earlier! You have no need to worry, you at least have your puddings done! I'll be making a chocolate pudding of sorts again I think and my Mum will bring a trifle. My daughters Christmas list was handed over yesterday, it resembled one that I think a 21 year old would write (she is 12 going on 13). Mac lipstick.. really??? But there is a candyfloss machine in there thankfully, to prove she is still a kid of sorts. Happy Christmas to you too Kay.
  20. 2. When in doubt, just take the next small step.

  23. Finished Edge of Always by J.A Redmerski, was ok, bit too samey and dull compared to Edge if Never. Can't decide what to start.. Might try Grave Sight by Charlaine Harris.
  24. Have a great time frankie, just think, you'll be the only one with a clear head in the morning!
