  1. Haunted - Kelley Armstrong From Amazon: Eve Levine - half-demon, black witch and devoted mother - has been dead for three years. She has a great house, an interesting love life and can't be killed again - which comes in handy when you've made as many enemies as Eve. Yes, the afterlife isn't too bad - all she needs to do is find a way to communicate with her daughter Savannah and she'll be happy. But fate - or more exactly, the Fates - have other plans. Eve owes them a favour, and they've just called it in. An evil spirit called the Nix has escaped from hell. She feeds on chaos and death, and is very good at persuading people to kill for her. The Fates want Eve to hunt her down before she does any more damage, but the Nix is a dangerous enemy - previous hunters have been sent mad in the process. As if that's not problem enough, it turns out that the only way to stop her is with an angel's sword. And Eve's no angel... I really liked Eve as a character. In the previous books, Eve hadn't really been painted in a very good light, but after reading Haunted, you can really start to understand her. She is a very different leading lady from Paige and I really got the sense that she could handle pretty much any situation. I liked the development of her relationship with Kristof. Although we had met him breifly in Dime Store Magic, we really knew nothing about him. It was nice to get to know more about the supernatural afterlife. Mark: 7.5/10
  2. Industrail Magic - Kelley Armstrong From Amazon: After Paige Winterbourne is ousted as leader of the American Coven of Witches, all she wants to do is hide under her duvet for a few months. Let the supernatural world manage without her, see if she cares...But fate, of course, has other plans. A murderer is on the loose - someone with superhuman skills. When Paige learns that the killer is targeting children, she realises she has to get involved in the covert investigation. And so Paige - desperate to protect those she loves - is thrown into a world of arrogant Cabal leaders, drunken necromancers, sulky druid gods and pretentious leather-clad vampires. Luckily, she has a female werewolf and a certain renegade sorcerer on her side... I enjoyed this book. It was nice to get to know Paige and Lucas a bit more after having read Dime Store Magic. Again, I would recommend this book. Mark: 7/10
  3. Pasta Bake - exciting eh!?
  4. I just feel that everything was a bit OTT, a glance in the book is stare in the film if that makes sense. Like I said before though, it was still a very good film, I just have very high expectations!
  5. I saw the movie last night and although it missed out loads, it was still good. They forced relationships on the audience . They weren't subtle about it, there was no "will they won't they?". There was no action at the end. The OOTP didn't get involved at all. I haven't re-read the book for a while, so think that I may do that soon.
  6. I like the Hyena episode, Xander was fab in that. I didn't really like the Buffy/Beer/drunk freshman episode either. All seemed kind of pointless. Spike's character changed so much throughout the seasons. I liked his relationship with Drusilla, there were some very funny moments. Oz was great! I was so disappointed when he left. I loved him with Willow, they were so sweet together. Plus, he added an extra dimension to the Scooby gang. Characters I didn't like - Tara, Dawn, Jenny, Riley, Buffy's room mate (I just remember that she had a Celine Dion poster!) and Joyce.

    Hey All

    Welcome *waves*
  8. I should have been working!! I had to keep minimising so I totally misread what Roxi had said. Having now re-read, I agree, she takes to being a nerd easily which is odd considering she used to be the popular one. I have just ordered the first season on DVD!
  9. Sorry, i'm at work so answered whilst trying to do other things! Cordelia befriends Buffy, but Buffy chooses Willow (for whatever reason!). Cordy isn't used to not getting what she wants to then hates Buffy so uses her popularity to make other people not like her - if that makes any sense?!
  10. I guess that it is becuase she rejects Cordy? Cordelia is very popular so maybe uses her popularity to get back at Buffy??
  11. The Master wasn't that scary imo! Mind you, I wouldn't want to bump in to him in a dark alley. Has anyone seen the movie?
  12. I remember this episode, it was based in the school wasn't it? Their relationship really added something to the earlier episodes. When she has to - heartbreaking!
  13. I agree. This is probably becuase Meyer started to write Midnight Sun after the Twilight saga so she could have taken any criticism about Bella into consideration.
  14. It is the same when
  15. That is what makes Buffy great, all of these bitter sweet moments! I didn't like the Tara character, she was a bit sickly! I liked Faith a lot.
  16. In the Twilight saga "my favourite wolfy grin" and "my favourite crooked smile"
  17. I hadn't noticed, but probably will now that you have mentioned it
  18. I have come to this thread to talk about Buffy as I was going a wee bit off topic in the Twilight thread *ahem* I really loved the Buffy series and when I was younger, it was one of the only series that I watched all the time without missing an episode. Aside from the supernatural theme, I enjoyed the romance with Angel, the love triangle with Xander, Willow & Buffy, how the main characters struggled to fit in at school and the comedy and witty banter. Aswell as the main characters, the cast was fab. I really liked Seth Green as Oz and Charisma Carpenter as Cordelia. There were a lot of really epic moments in the series like when Angel went evil (and the circumstances how it happened) and Willow going crazy. I am trying to decide if I prefer the earlier or later episodes, but I can't make up my mind! This has reminded me how much I enjoyed Buffy, so I am going to hunt down some boxsets....
  19. Hi - Thanks :) I love RP, so thought he should be my new av!

  20. Both will suit me fine! I think that we need an Angel/Buffy thread if there isn't already one so we can swoon some more!
  21. WHAT! I dont think that I can say I like one more than the other, they are both quite different characters. I agree, think that I need to start watching some Buffy re-reuns although I never did get in to Angel the series.
  22. Angel was a brooding vampire too, struggling to cope with the things that he had done in the past so there is a big difference between him and young Edward.
  23. Can't argue with that Roxi!!! In defence of Angel, he didn't give in to Buffy's charms as quickly as Edward and Bella got it on I mean, Edward sneaking in to Bella's room watching her sleep before they were together was a wee bit odd. She didn't seem to mind though! I would have expected Edward to seem a lot older than Bella, but he didn't really in my opinion.
  24. Thanks :) I was having a break from RP style av's, but I couldn't resist when I saw it!!
