  1. Happy Birthday Renniemist! :balloons:

  2. I quite liked Desperation. Insomnia was strange, because I didn't like it the first time round, but when I re-read it I loved it, and I don't often change my first opinion of a book. I absolutely loathed Bag of Bones.

  5. I agree. I didn't really like Dreamcatcher, Lisey's Story, Bag of Bones, From a Buick 8... I started Duma Key but put it to one side very early to read other things and haven't got back to it yet. His earlier stuff is much better. I don't think this is the case as I'd know King's style anywhere. I could even pick out the bits he'd written in his collaborations with Peter Straub! As far as I know, Tabitha gets her own books published anyway. No, I think he's just not as good as he used to be.

He still looks like one to me! Very interesting. I would like to see Donna again.

    Dr Who

With him looking so young, I just don't think I'll believe him taking charge of a situation, like the Doctor needs to. He looks more like he'd storm off into his room to sulk, slam the door and put his music on full blast. Still, I'm trying to remain open-minded until I see his performance. I think it's always difficult when the Doctor changes - you get so attached to whoever's in the role and you don't want it to change (especially when it's David Tennant). Raven, have you heard whispers that Donna might be back, or is it just what you think? In some ways, I don't want her to come back. Like I said when Rose left, it negates the emotion you felt about the loss if you blithely bring them back (after insisting it was impossible). I didn't like Rose's return (especially her annoying lisping). And it might be the same for Donna. On the other hand, it would be nice to see her again!
  8. Lol! I saw this advert tonight for the first time and liked it. I don't like that one either, Ceinwenn. Yes, I get it, but I don't like it. I understand there have been quite a lot of complaints about it but they decided to keep it on.
  9. I haven't seen the new PG Tips one yet, so I'll have to watch out for it. I like the one for Rightmove, where the woman runs through people's houses - I think I just admire her energy! I can't stand the one with the cartoon character "Hi, I'm Sophie" - I think it's something to do with comparing bingo sites and it's on every break.
  10. I'm glad there's going to be another series. It wasn't brilliant, but it kept me watching. And it certainly ended on a load of cliffhangers... I want to know what happens to them next, especially to Abby now the scientists have got her.

Same here! I cried when she left!!

    Dr Who

What Nici said! I don't really like the look of him. Firstly, he is far too young, he looks like a stroppy 16-year-old. Secondly, who?!! I actually watched The Ruby in the Smoke, but he can't have impressed me that much as I didn't remember his name (and I take note of the names of people I like). I will reserve judgement until I've seen his performance, but I can't say I'm happy. Then again, if David's leaving, only the casting of Richard Armitage would have made me happy! At least he has one thing going for him - he's not James Nesbitt.

    Dr Who

Oh heck... I want to know, and yet I don't. I don't want David Tennant to go! Of the names on that link, I don't really want any of them! I can't stand James Nesbitt, I can't even bear to look at him. I wasn't keen on David Morrissey in the Xmas special; he seemed to declaim every line in a booming voice as if he were doing some Shakespeare play at Stratford. And how could it be John Simm?! Paterson Joseph... is he the guy that was just in Survivors? I don't mind him (he's certainly preferable to Nesbitt) but I'd rather the new Doctor was someone I fancied!! And I really hope they don't cast a woman in the role. Sorry, it just doesn't seem right. Oh David, why did you decide to go? *sniff*
  15. Wahey! Congratulations Terry! (I'm wondering how he really feels about it - I imagine him to be like Vimes when it comes to honours and things. )Though I'm sure he must be pleased - it's nice to see talent rewarded!
  16. I recommend The Leap by Jonathan Stroud as an excellent book that draws you in and really keeps you uncertain about what's happening. I think it was the first book by him that I read.
  17. I'm waiting for the return of Dexter, and Heroes (missing it already!). Plus the Doctor Who specials.
  18. I still haven't got around to watching this!
  19. I was quite disappointed in it too. It just seemed really insipid and seemed to miss out a lot of stuff that I remembered from other versions (but I'm not sure how true to the book they were either). Everything seemed to fall into place a bit too easily for him. Hannay seemed miscast, though I liked the woman playing Victoria. I haven't read the book, so can't comment on how faithful an adaptation it was, but I totally agree that if you're going to change it too much, you shouldn't call it The 39 Steps. Either stay faithful to the book, or do what you like with it, don't try to pretend it's an adaptation and call it something else!

  22. It's funny, but everyone in my office today was going on about how wonderful Tom's show dance was too, yet me and my mum absolutely hated it! I'm not a fan of Camilla's choreography at all (her Argentine Tango was particularly lacking in substance compared to the other two). I didn't think any of the show dances were particularly outstanding, but Lisa and Brendan's was easily the worst. Or perhaps I was getting put off by Lisa's ghastly silver leotard. SueK, I like your signature!
  23. I voted for Rachel. She was definitely the best dancer.
  24. So, popularity triumphs over ability. What a surprise. I'm very disappointed by the result but completely unsurprised. Ooh Karen, don't get me started on this one! I really don't understand why people say it's more difficult for the men. In my opinion, it's harder for the women - they dance backwards a lot of the time, they dance in very high-heeled shoes, they have to keep their head turned to one side whilst the men can look straight ahead, they do all kinds of complicated turns, twists and steps while the men just stand there... Yeah, the women have it so easy. I just think it's disgusting that a person who shouldn't even have been in the final ended up winning it. Tom was even in the lowest position after the first show. He was not the best dancer so he should not have won. I don't care if someone postponed their wedding, or if they so want to win to make their nan proud, or that their hamster died recently... All I want is for the best dancer to win. Now I need to go and have a lie down, remind myself it's just a TV show and get over it.
