  1. Hi guys! I haven't read much the last few months with wedding prep but I can get back on it soon! Currently re-reading the handmaids tale. One of my absolute favourite books of all time. Still reading the 'beautiful' series too. On book 3 now. About 60% through the whole series.
  2. Thanks Athena. Very excited now! I think a book buying ban sounds like both a very sensible but sad decision! I don't think I'll ever read all the books I currently own unless I win the lottery and decide to make it my full time occupation !! However, I seem to have a compulsion. Perhaps we need a book buying equivalent of AA?!
  3. Hi. I'm still reading Beautiful Darkness. I'm getting married at the end of the month so haven't had much time for reading! Virginia have you started 'a discovery of witches'yet? I loved the whole trilogy but I think that was my favourite! Lauraloves have you finished 'hitler stole pink rabbit'? Apologies if you both already posted answers to these previously!
  4. Ah it sounds like until the endus the final friends trilogy under a different name! Long books do take ages. Took me AGES to finish Lord of the rings. Struggling to continue with beautiful darkness at the moment. Although the film Beautiful Creatures was on tonight. I remember enjoying it the first time I watched it but now I've read the book it was boring! I LOVED when hitler stole pink rabbit! Very poignant. I never finished the trilogy though. Must dig it out and read them again.
  5. I really enjoy the final friends trilogy. I've read it quite a few times. It's not like a lot of his other books. No sci-fi! I've not heard if Until the End. What kind of omnibus is it?

  7. I am enjoying it. Beautiful Creatures was better than Beautiful Darkness (so far anyway). I read it in a couple of days. I often read lots of books at once! Sometimes I just need something a bit different to reignite the flame of interest! I also read Christopher Pike's Final Friends trilogy at the start of the month. Thought I'd have a bit of a nostalgia trip
  8. I've read Beautiful Creatures (Kami Garcia) and I'm partway through Beautiful Darkness. As I bought the series on my kindle I have no idea exactly how far along that book I am! 47% total. I also decided to relive a part of my childhood and read The Witches (Roald Dahl)
  9. I'm not sure I could think of 5. As some others have said, I rately finish them if I don't like them: 1. Jonathan Strange and Mr Norrell. Good god it was dull. I managed to persevere but it was hard going. Felt like nothing actually happened. 2. Lord of the Ring trilogy. I understand why so many people love it, but it was just so loooong! Cutting out the songs and tedious descriptions would have done wonders. 3. The Suspicions of Mr Whicher. Completely unreadable. I managed about 1/4 of it before I had to give up. I'll come back to 4 and 5!
  10. My first post. Howdy to all! I just read Athena's post (don't know how to quote yet) and I completely agree. I have a kindle paperwhite which I take absolutely everywhere. Can't stand being 'bookless'! It's much easier to carry round. It means I can take lots and lots of books when I travel. However, I miss my old kindle keyboard (I broke the screen
