  1. Hope this doesn't turn into a publication date saga similar to the 6th Game of Thrones book
  2. Waiting for a girl like you - Foreigner
  3. Amazon are now saying September 2017
  4. I once ordered a used book from the internet, supposedly in very good condition - when it arrived it was in a state that I can only describe as grubby, covered in what I assumed (and hoped) were tea/coffee stains, basically it looked like it had been dropped in a very large muddy puddle, and I wouldn't give a book in that condition to anyone. So I'd only buy a used book if it was in very good condition, I don't mind a few mild spinal creases and slightly foxed pages, and generally the used books I have ordered have been in v good condition - some look as if they'd hardly been read (a bit like my own books). But I'm careful now who I order from, I think I've learnt which sites to trust!

  6. Hi and welcome to the forum.
  7. Summer's finally here! Had a couple of showers yesterday but was out in the forest so hardly felt it, then later it the sun shone and we had a nice lunch outside, and then I went home and sat in the garden for a while. Very muggy last night though, and I must admit I'm not looking forward to tomorrow when it's meant to be in the 30s...and then we're back to storms again
  8. Today was lovely and sunny and even sat in the garden for a while, then it kept getting dull and very windy, but no rain or storm, then it got hotter and the ants started swarming, so we came in, still quite muggy so expect it will break at some point.
  9. I got a brand new copy of Janet Ellis's book, The Butcher's Hook, for £4 in Oxfam.
  10. I don 't like the musty smell either, and that dust makes me sneeze
  11. I was reading about this yesterday, and yes there are some concerns that unscrupulous people will use it to lure people into unsavoury situations (but then a lot of things do that anyway). The distraction theory is a bit worrying too, especially when people are so busy on their phones they hardly look where they're going as it is (constantly dodging people glued to their phones or yapping away), however if it does bring groups together then that's good, let's hope they don't get so competitive that they start fighting over who got there first! Also there have been some reports that people have been barging into sensitive places, like Auschwitz and a holocaust museum in the US (can't remember why), I think perhaps some places should maybe be left out, hopefully they won't start charging into hospitals or try to get into Fort Knox or anywhere like that! You can tell I was never into Pokémon can't you
  12. I used to love the Moomin books, they were lovely. I've been dithering for ages about reading The Shell House, as I think part of it is set not far from where I love. Has anyone read it?

  14. Drizzling again, would be nice to just have some sunshine
  15. Been pretty much the same here, Nollaig, especially yesterday where it rained for most of the afternoon, and overnight as well. Very windy too.
  16. Now in Devon, investigating a murder.
  17. I've been meaning to ask if anyone's watching this - I'm enjoying it, although I thought last night's episode was the weakest story so far. Next week is meant to be a really jumpy story! Also enjoying The Musketeers.
  18. Aaagh one of our managers suggested we all go ice-skating for our Xmas party - nooooooo! does she want us all in A & E/the fracture clinic? Apart from even mentioning that time of year in July.... The desk sounds gorgeous, Virginia - those old desks are lovely, glad it's found a good home. Hope you feel better soon Nollaig.
  19. Rio de Janeiro, trying to find my real family (Seven Sisters) and the town of Midnight in Texas, where something very weird is happening (Day shift).
  20. Goodnight Mr Tom by Michelle Magorian.
  21. Recorded "The Two Faces of January" earlier this year and watched it last night, enjoyable with some great clothes and settings (Athens and Crete), good performances too but felt more like an episode of a TV show rather than a film, probably because it was pretty short.
  22. Oh that's way too hot. Hope you get your internet/cable installed. Have a good weekend, hope your ankle eases up - I bet that heat doesn't help it!
  23. Hi Mr Cat and welcome.
