  1. We had rain most of last night too, started around 1630 and didn't stop. Dull today but dry so far.
  2. I never watched CF first time round, so not sure if I'll bother with it. There are some pics of the cast of Midnight Texas on Charlaine Harris's blog.
  3. Essex Serpent is on my wishlist too.
  4. I've read one of her others and it was a nice easy read, and I have some more by her too.
  5. Barcelona is lovely, lucky you!
  6. Just thought of another one - Lee Child. I know he's popular on here, but I got halfway through Worth dying For and had to ditch it through utter tedium, it was when he took 4 pages to describe hot-wiring a car that did it for me.
  7. Hi and welcome.
  8. TKAM was one of the few books we had to study at school which I really enjoyed.
  9. I've had The Return on my tbr pile for ages, glad you liked it.
  10. Another Jodi Taylor fan here, they're good escapist reads, very funny at times.
  11. Just over halfway through Poldark now, they are really good ,well-written and the writing style doesn't feel at all dated.
  12. I've also had a couple of free books from LT to review, so I'm quite happy with them!
  13. I can't believe it's September!
  14. I used to pay for the yearly membership, then a few years they got badly hacked, and as compensation they awarded free lifetime memberships to anyone who was affected, but it's still good vale at $25. Obviously it all comes to personal preference which site anyone uses, I like GR but just didn't see the point of duplicating my collection.
  15. If it was the 3rd book then it wouldn't make any sense, as it really is a trilogy in the true sense of the word, and you definitely need to have read the 1st book at least.
  16. Yes it's quite a long series, about 20-odd books so far.
  17. I love Corfe, sounds a lovely day out.
  18. That's terrible, but at least you're not the only one, hope it's sorted and quick
  19. Yes I think LT is the best site for logging books, I looked at GR and thought well I've already got this on LT so no point in duplicating everything, although I do look at GR sometimes for reviews.
  20. I think those 3 Hardy books are my favourites too, I agree the Well-Beloved isn't quite as good, but I think my least favourites are A Laodicean (sp?) and Desperate Remedies. But I remember quite enjoying Two on a Tower and the Trumpet Major, and Return of the Native which I re-read a couple of years ago, and his short stories are worth a read too if you fancy something shorter. We stopped off at Dorchester for lunch on the way to Devon the other week, it's a nice little town.
  21. How'd do you manage to read so many books?!
  22. I thought Deathly Hallows would never end....they could have done it in one film, I was almost rooting for Voldemort by the time I got to part 2.
  23. Very funny, wonder how his wife puts up with it!
