      Late Autumn Supporter Giveaway   11/27/2020

I know that winter is well on the way, but I'm sneaking the autumn giveaway in here, right at the end of the season...     I thought this giveaway seemed particularly appropriate for this year: Dear Reader: The Comfort and Joy of Books by Cathy Rentzenbrink.  I'm sure some of you will have heard of this book. It came out in September and has had brilliant reviews. It's been described as a love letter to reading and I think all of us have truly appreciated 'the comfort and joy of books' this year.  It is also a really beautiful hardback. Please excuse my picture-taking skills, it's really hard to get a good picture of something that's shiny!   As always, patreon supporters will be automatically entered into the draw. If you're not a supporter but you'd like to join our patreon you can do so here:  bookclubforum.co.uk is creating a book community | Patreon

Carrie Fisher?!

Rest In Peace to all!

And tonight Debbie Reynolds died. One day after her daughter Carrie Fisher.

May they both R.I.P.

Oh no! I hadn't heard that Muggle, I imagine the shock of her daughter's death would have been huge. I was just watching Singin' In the Rain last night :(

Debbie Reynolds was a true legend in the film business. I loved her acting.

She was wonderful, a classy woman in every way.

Watching the news the other night was more like watching an obituary programme, first George Michael, then Carrie Fisher, then Liz Smith and Richard Adams.

I'm heartbroken.  I adored Wham! and George Michael as a solo artist growing up, he was the soundtrack to my childhood and adolescence.

I could not believe it when I saw this on the news.  I wasent sure why they were showing his hits until they said he had died, beyond belief.  This year has been so awful for celebrities.

One of the saddest 2016 deaths for me was the loss of William Christopher on 31st December, one of my favourites in many years of watching MASH. :(

One of my favourite actors, Miguel Ferrer, has died. He was brilliant in Crossing Jordan. RIP. :(

That's very sad about Miguel Ferrer, Pixie!  He was so young :(

I was saddened too about William Christopher, Chalie.  Father Mulcahy was always one of my favorite characters on MASH.

I didn't know he was in NCIS:LA, funnily enough I watched an ep last night (about the only thing I could find that I hadn't seen before) and they put a little note up at the end with his dates, he didn't look very well I must say, poor man.

I know she wasn't a celebrity, but I would like to mention the young girl who was murdered in Iceland last weekend - Birna Brjánsdóttir - may she rest in peace.
