      Moving Day Coming Soon   01/11/2021

As many of you know, we've been looking at changing hosts for a while now. This will allow us to access the tech support we need for the site and should speed up the forum as well as ironing out a few issues we've been having recently.    We are now signed up to the new hosting plan and can go ahead with the move as soon as the new hosts have everything they need (which is currently being sorted!). The forum should not be offline for more than a day during the switch and hopefully it won't even take that long. I don't have an exact time or day for the move yet but this is an early warning to expect some downtime soon.   When we are offline, no matter how briefly, you can follow the forum twitter page (@bookclubforum) for updates.

Hello,

My names Jennifer. I'm 21, (and still thinking i'm 19. I don't know why?!), i live in Staffordshire in the West Midlands.

I'm so excited to find a community around books. I think i'm quickly going to get addicted.

I love reading the likes of Terry Pratchett (he is my god.), Diana Wynne Jones, Joseph Delaney and Eoin Colfer.

I want to branch out and read a wider variety of authors as i tend to stick to a select few.

So if anyone has any recommendations they're greatly of appreciated. I mainly like fantasy, science fiction and horror, but if its worth reading please suggest it!

Nice to meet you.

JKHolmes  :readingtwo:

Hello Jennifer! :welcome2:

I'm 40-something and I still think I'm 19, so don't worry about that - it doesn't go away as you get older!

There are plenty of fans of those genres on the board, so I'm sure you'll find lots of recommendations flooding in soon. :D

Welcome here! Terry Pratchett is one of my favourite authors, and fantasy and science-fiction are two of my favourite genres. I'm sure you'll find some nice recommendations on this forum (you could also make your own topic in the Reading Lists forum). I'd be happy to recommend you something but would need to know more about what kind of fantasy or science-fiction you like best (I'm not big on horror and the only recommendation I could pretty much make is Stephen King, I haven't read many books by other horror authors) (unless you just want me to list my favourites, I could do that too XD). Anyway, I hope you enjoy it here!

Hi welcome! I just noticed you posted on my blog. Thanks! :D

I would recommend Peter F. Hamilton, Brandon Sanderson and Robert Jordan in terms of fantasy/sci-fi. I greatly enjoyed reading them. :D

Risingdawn - I've heard of Peter F. Hamilton and Robert Jordan, but not Brandon Sanderson. I'll definitely try all three though.

You really should! The movies are great but the books are even better. :D I'm American so some of the Brit slang/terms throw me off, but Bridget is just such a lovable character!

Welcome JK! Everybody here knows what  sf/fantasy author I am going to recommend so I might as well get it out of the way....Jack Vance!  I recommend his Lyonesse trilogy if you are more into fantasy. Lots of magic and romance. Hope you enjoy it here.
