  1. Anyone here who would enjoy learning some Shakespeare sonnets together?
  2. dolly

    Hello!

Thank you Could you recommend something to read on the subject of Greek/Roman mythology?
  3. Looking forward to that unique experience

    Hello!

It’s a trifle surprising, as I would have thought Athena to be a more popular nickname than Gaia, but, you never know:) These two names make up an interesting combination due to their meanings! Does Greek mythology especially appeal to you, or is it a multicultural interest?
  5. It’s actually the next Maugham book on my list. In a while, I will definitely share my views on it. It’s magical, opening something new by your favourite author, isn’t it?

    Hello!

Hopefully, I’ll read something by Nabokov one day, but I haven’t got around to that yet. What exactly would you suggest? As for Dostoevsky, it’s just the reverse with me: I’ve read “The Idiot” and have both “The Brothers Karamazov” and “Notes from the Underground” on my to-read list

    Hello!

Thank you, Athena! Your nickname is amazing:) Are you keen on mythology or is it just a nickname? Or is it your actual name?

    Hello!

    Apparently, now I do
  9. Hi guys, If anyone wants to discuss Dostoyevsky’s “The Idiot”, I’m here I find it rather unpredictable and gripping, but that’s what goes without saying, I guess. This book is also very touching: I can’t imagine how one can feel no sympathy towards Prince Myshkin!
  10. My next Maugham will, without doubt, be “Cakes and Ale”. I, too, want to carry on with exploring his work. Who know what’s around the Maugham corner? Thanks for your welcome, I’m glad to be here!

    Hello!

Thank you, Poppy! The quote you use in your messages has led me to a lot of brain-racking
  14. Any fans of W.Somerset Maugham here? My bookish November finished with his “Theatre”. Currently I’m reading “The Painted Veil”, which seems a bit shorter, so, probably, I’ll finish that rather soon, as well. I haven’t enjoyed “Theatre” as much as I have enjoyed “The Razor’s Edge”, so far my favourite by Maugham. And yet, it’s a gripping book with a substantial amount of philosophical ideas, which seem to be “the appeal factor” for me
