  1. Too Much Internet

One of my five resolutions for the new year is to only use the internet for one hour per day. I chose this because, for too many days since my school years, I lose myself in loading several different webpages in a nonstop consumption of media. I wondered if it was having an impact on my mental well-being, and after last night I think that's definitely the case. I've been saving the last two hours of the evening for some reading, writing or anything else that doesn't involve sitting in front of the computer. However, last night I fell into my old habit and, once I went to bed, I couldn't fall asleep as I was thinking too much about several different things. Not deep thoughts, but buzzwords in a sort of ethereal cloud, related to the news and videos I watched. I was even a bit anxious, because I couldn't turn off my thoughts and I couldn't conduct them to a conclusion. I know that this constant need for new input is happening to other people my age, it's why me and so many of us grab the smartphone without reason. I wonder if a similar issue of anxiety, or inability to fall asleep, is happening to others.
  2. Carpe Diem

I never grasped the concept behind this expression. I think it means to focus on the present and give little thought to what may come after, but doesn't that compromise the idea of delayed gratification, which we're told to follow in order to achieve something meaningful in the future?
  3. Tattoos!

It would also hinder you from working in a bookshop, because you would scan one product and the customer would have to pay for your favourite book too.
  4. The Last Film You Saw - 2017

I watched Song to Song in the cinema, so I was able to follow the mood. I think I prefer the cinema to watch this type of slow, arthouse films, because I can't watch these movies at home in one sitting and there are other distractions. It's a good film; I didn't particularly enjoy it, but I felt satisfied in the end.
  5. Star Trek & Stargate (& other Sci-Fi)

As I read Phillip K. Dick's book, I can't help but notice some images here resemble parts of its story that weren't in the first movie.
  6. Star Trek & Stargate (& other Sci-Fi)

There's a full trailer for the new Blade Runner movie:
  7. What are you listening to?

Late night for a bossa nova classic.
  8. Upgrade to New Version - Any Questions?

Hi, I just want to say that I really like this new look, it's so clean and pleasant.
  9. What's Up in April 2017?

You must have books in every wall, or a very big wall somewhere. I have some books as well, though not nearly as many.
  10. The Last Film You Saw - 2017

At first I struggled with the film, because it was more focused on superficial questions by common people about philosophy, feminism and art in a way that I felt annoying. However, I kept watching and started to enjoy it once I knew the characters. I agree that Annette Bening had a good performance, I think her character was a bit complex; I also liked Greta Gerwig's performance.
  11. Hi everyone

    Welcome to the forum, Kafka.
  12. More football

I'm still overwhelmed about last night's Barcelona win, it was outstanding. Those players showed immense character and never gave up when everyone would understand it. Has anyone else watched the match?
  13. What's Up in March 2017?

This afternoon I had some time in the afternoon, and with no one to hang with I bought a book, which was Go Set a Watchman, by Harper Lee; I'm enjoying it, perhaps I'll read some more tonight. I also bought an ice cream, I think a little cheat doesn't hurt.
  14. The Gaming Box

I played it for a bit in a store this afternoon and, although I didn't know the controls or the mechanics, I enjoyed it. I picked up from this snowy and wuthering area and escaped to greener fields, where there were some cabins. I couldn't interact with them, but I peeked through a door. Then I climbed a nearby waterfall and didn't feel like coming back down.
  15. Health and Fitness

I'm glad things are going smoother, frankie.
  16. The Gaming Box

I'm kind of interested, but I don't have the time and energy to play videogames that I used to have. I haven't finished the games I have for the PS4 yet. I bought The Last Guardian last week and I'm really enjoying it.
  17. The Last Film You Saw - 2017

Jackie's composer is Mica Levi, I'm a fan of her work in Under the Skin. I haven't seen Jackie yet, but I enjoyed La La Land's soundtrack. As for the Oscars, I'd be glad if Casey Affleck and Mahershala Ali got their awards, because I thoroughly enjoyed their performances - however, there's so much I haven't seen that I don't have an opinion on who should win. From the films I watched, I preferred Manchester by the Sea's plot, but I felt La La Land and Moonlight were better directed.
  18. The Last Film You Saw - 2017

I watched La La Land yesterday in the cinema and I have so much to say about it I'd need to write a full-fledged article. But, I think the fact that I'll definitely watch it again in the cinema is enough to show how much I enjoyed it. It doesn't do anything different or smart, at least from what I can perceive; everything has a sort of normal, classic approach. It also has one of those plots I enjoy, simple and in which good things don't happen unless there's a context for them. I also enjoyed Manchester by the Sea, I watched it some two weeks ago and perhaps I could watch it again - I'm not used to watch films I like in the cinema, so I should enjoy it while I can.
  19. City of stars, are you shining just for me...

    1. Chrissy

Is this the start of something wonderful?

Have you watched it too, Chrissy?

    3. Chrissy

Not yet, but that song has been in my head for days now.

  20. Funny story & Joke Corner

Two markets were flying, when one tells the other: "You know, I don't think we're supposed to fly." "Speak for yourself, I'm a supermarket."
  21. The Last Film You Saw - 2017

I watched the first two films of Bergman's Trilogy of Faith and I really liked it, I have the third one ready; as I dive through these less known films I become more of a von Sydow's fan.
  22. What are you listening to?

I took a while to get used to this album, but since then I've listened to it quite often. I always come back to it.
