  1. Last night i watched "The Artist". Was better than what i expected it was going to be but still not sure if i enjoyed it or not?
  2. I am going to Download this year with my son and I will be taking them in whilst there.
  3. Last Tuesday had the County cup U16's Final. 2-0 to Greatham over South Shields. 2 yellow cards and 3 ambulances. 1st injury was a dislocated hip, 2nd was a broken ankle and third was ankle ligaments. Monday night just gone was the South durham Bowl Final. 1-o to Witton Park and another broken leg. People are now refusing to play in games that i ref.
  4. Well done Sedge. To win any County Cup is a great achievement.
  5. Finally got a game on this weekend. Sunday was the semi-final of the Wear Valley League Cup. West Auckland WMC V Staindrop. Staindrop won 2-1 and it was all my fault apparently. West Auckland thought the winning goal shouldn't have been allowed. West Auckland's keeper was flattened by his own defender and they thought i should have given a foul as the Staindrop player put the ball into the empty net. Anyway at full time they surround me and i end up sending 2 off for their language. This week i have Willington V Hartlepool Reserves in the Wearside League tomorrow. Should be fun & games again as Willington need to win to cement top spot in the League. Saturday I have the South Durham Bowl semi-final and on Sunday the second semi in the Wear Valley League Cup. Am thinking there will be lots of cards dished out this week.
  6. I read a few Dan Simmons books about 15 years ago but could not get into them at all. I may try again now given the comments above.
  7. Another complete white out in County Durham. Snow started on Friday and is still doing so now. Have now reffed 49 games this season with 34 postponements. This is by far the worst season i have endured for the weather.
  8. Really enjoyed the 1st book but have been disappointed with all the subsequent ones. Also couldn't get away with the tv series. Watched the 1st one and thought the acting was that wooden that i left it after the 1st season.
  9. Had a nightmare last night of my own making. Should have sent off the forward for the home side but thought i would give him a 2nd chance. At the end of the game as we were leaving the pitch i told him that he had been lucky and if there had been an assessor present he would have left me with no option. Away team goalkeeper heard this and kicked off big style wanting to report me to the league and FA. Have heard nothing thus far so assume he has thought better of it.
  10. 3 games this weekend and not a yellow card. Happy days. However, i am at Willington tonight for their game against Cleator Moor Celtic. They are both due to play each other again shortly in the League Cup final. Should be interesting. Problem is that i will probably not get home tonight until 11.00pm ish as there is an assessor at the game and i am obliged to meet the club officials for food after the game.
  11. I am assuming this was seniors (adults)? We have all had bad games in the past but doing the shouting and screaming thing does not work. When i have had this sort of reaction i find i tend to go into my shell and things go from bad to worse. I usually know when i have made a mistake, don't need anybody else to rub it in. Remember that all referees are good, just smoe are better than others. If the referee was really a top notch official the likl;ihood is he will not be appointed to parks football.
  12. Sedge the levels do tend to corrsepond with the pyramid. Level 3s will generally ref at contrib standard. Level 2s will do football league and level 1s Premier League, European and International games. Last season, before the injury, i was doing a few Premier league reserve games. When is your final played and what are the chances of bringing home some silverware?
  13. Sedge - i am currently level 3 but am fully expecting to be demoted to level 5 for next season. I had an operation on my knee, meniscus, last April and have never fully recovered from it. Problem is i now cannot run long distances and will therefore be unable to pass the fitness test. The FA gave me dispensation for this season but cannot see it happening next. How did you get on last night?
  14. No problem. Have got a game on wednesday night. Northallerton V Newton Aycliffe. so will not be home till at least midnight after i speak with the assessor and have some after match refeshments & food.
  15. Goodfellas Pulp Fuction Reservoir Dogs Mystic River Kick Ass Leon Primal Fear Scent of a Woman Rain Man A Few Good Men I think that is my top 10 but could change at a moments notice.
