Kell
5th April 2006, 19:14
I love the Harry Potter books & I adore Roald Dahl too. My favourite has always been The Twits - it makes me laugh soooooo hard (it's the Mugglewump family & the hug-tite sticky glue that does it!).
Tiger
6th April 2006, 18:33
Maureen, my favourite book so far is the Half Blood Prince, which I'm just re-reading. :D
Tiger
16th April 2006, 15:26

And this fortnight:
Touching the Waves 7/10
Into the Blue 9/10
Both by Lucy Daniels! They're both about dolphins as well. As you've probably guessed by now, I'm obsessed with dolphins!
Tiger

Went to the library today and chose:
Indie Kidd by Karen McCrumble 10/10
The Snow Pony by Alison Lester
The Dolphins of Laurentum by Caroline Lawrwnce
And a non-fiction book called
Large Mammals
After a while of reading, I read 52 pages of Indie Kidd! So far, Indie's used some cream on one of her eyebrows, unaware that it vanishes the hair in the ares of the cream! Now she has one and a half eyebrows! LOL
And yes, another two books on dolphins, one non-fiction and a story set in the Roman times... sometimes I ask myself why I'm so obsessed with them- LOL! :?
Tiger
20th May 2006, 17:20
Next time I go, I'd LOVE to find a book on Doctor Who, whether it focusses on the first eight doctors or the last two... As long as it has K9 or the Daleks in it, I'll be a happy person!

Tiger
30th May 2006, 14:06
Here is a load down on my favourite book so far....
Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire
Harry, and his best friends Ron and Hermione, are about to start their 4th year a Hogwarts school of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Harry can't wait to go back to school, no matter how much the Quittich World Cup's dark event upsets him!
At Hogwarts... there's a dangerous competion and a new spooky new teacher who used to work at the Minestry of Magic. How did Harry's name emerge from the Goblet of Fire? And is he up for what's in store for him?
An excellent book which is also now a major new film on DVD now. I would reccomend it to those who haven't read it yet.
I'd give it 10/10!
Tiger
1st June 2006, 11:34
And here's one of Shakespeare's Secret by Elise Broach...
With a Shakespearian name like Hero, settling into a new town is never that easy. At least this time, there's a mystery to be solved: who robbed a priceless diamond? Why does old Mrs Roth know so much about the event? And why is Danny, mot popular boy in town, so desperate to help?
I haven't read the whole book yet, but for me it still works a treat for me! So far: 10/10
Angel
2nd June 2006, 20:04
Now you've got even more to read after today's visit to the library :D
Tiger

. Shakespeare's Secret
. Snow Pony
. Odious Oceans
. Lost Boy
. Indie kidd (how to be goodish)
. A Series Of Unfortunate Events
and I'm FINALLY trying Gwyneth Rees...
. My mum's from Pluto
Angel
3rd June 2006, 16:23
My mum's from Pluto
oh no I'm not!! LOL, I'm from Venus.........
Tiger
5th June 2006, 17:27
Nearly finished Shakespeare's Secret. I think I've solved the mystery. And my suspect is...
Mrs Roth (Hero's neighbour.)
How do I know? Well, she doesn't answer any questions about the diamond, only the necklace, she's not too keen to find the diamond and she knows too much about the robbery for my liking.
And, mum... I agree you ARE from Venus: so am I. LOL
Tiger
7th June 2006, 17:00
The first day at school wasn't a bad one: I got in the Achievement Book for making Cosmo so carefully, we did some singing practice for Oliver Twist and we played loads of spoirts games, like Hockey, Basket ball, Tennis, Babmington and Cricket.
I will soon start My Mum's From Pluto by Gwyneth Rees. I hope that I'll enjoy it as much as Shakespeare's Secret!

Lucy Daniels- Following the Rainbow
Joshua Wright- The Plotless, Pointless, Pathetic Sir Glame
As you've probably guesses, Following the Rainbow is another dolphin story. But what type of dolphin? Well, this one is about the second largest dolphin, the Pilot Whale. I'm currently reading it and am already on page 87- it's a good book!

You certainly race through those books, Tiger! I love Roald Dahl too - The Twits is still one of my favourites to this day. have you read that one yet?

I see that you have some Michael Morpurgo on your list, Tiger. Have you read the Amazing Story of Adolphus Tips?
It's a really good book about a girl and her pet cat. It's set in the second world war, but it's not a war book and has a really interesting twist in it.
From what you have read, and what I've seen said, I think you would enjoy it.
Tiger
16th June 2006, 13:54
I would like that book one day, Sugar! In fact, I've read the blurb and it looks really good!

I noticed you read My mum's from pluto, what was it like? The title intrigues me.
Tiger
17th June 2006, 11:55
Oh, it was funny! The main character's mum was a teacher and had promised him that she won't embarass him again. Of course, that was a great big laugh as it was a massive lie. The adventures in it were funny!
Tiger
17th June 2006, 11:57

Tiger
4th July 2006, 18:56
In this edition there's all about the monsters, how Rowling thought of the names (Especially the Slytherins and Malfoys)... The article of the Basilisk and its original status scares me (I had a look through and a picture of a man with a chicken caught my eye- LOL!)
ooh, yes - also known as a Cockatrice, if I remember correctly...

Torak's clan has been hit by an annual illness. Torak runs away to find a cure, only to find a strange follower. Renn and Wolf leave the deserted clan to find him, and he's gone overseas to the Seal Clan!
Over there, he sees a menace, also a friend, in the making: a large pod of Orca (Killer) whales. One, which he names Notched Fin, appears a lot of times throughout the story.
However, when he is so close to finding a cure, Torak discovers that the cure is nothing but a fake, and uses Notched Fin to help vanquish the Seal Mage...

Finished The Mediator, it wasn't too bad.
Yesterday, I got a new Michelle Paver book, Soul Eater, carried on from Wolf Brother and Spirit Walker. What I've read so far is superb!:readingtwo:

Ooh, i've read Plague Sorcerer, Tiger - I quite liked that one. I'd be interested in hearing more about Frankie, Peaches & Me, though, as you seem to have liked that one an awful lot - sounds very good to me. Got a lot of reading done, didn't you?!

Frankie, Peaches and Me is a teenage book by Karen McCombie. It's a real-life story, about a girl (Stella) who moves from her best mate, Frankie. Apart from the twins Jamie and Jake eating soap (YUCK!), she does not look forward to it. However, through a large waft of peaches and cream, Stella discovers Peaches, a lrage fat tabby cat on the loose. Now she sees that life is going to get more interesting....
I found this quite good, one of Karen McCombie's best books.

Thanks to the Bookfair at School, I managed to get hold of a 500 paged book by Edith Pattou, called North Child. It must be good, because it says it was short-listed for theOttakar's Children's Book Prize. I can't wait to start it!
Current Book: House of Secrets

Hi Tiger. What did you think of A christmas Carol? Dickens can be quite daunting, but I think the story in this is quite gripping. Did you enjoy it?
