Ok, so here's an idea for people to try...

Do you have books that you'd be willing to lend, or is there a book you'd like to borrow? If we work together, we could do so for the price of the postage.

For example, I want to borrow a book, and Debbie has it. I send her the postage money through paypal, or I send her a stamped envelope. She sends me the book, I read it, and send it back.

That way, I get to read the book, and only pay postage. Debbie is kind enough to lend it, but isn't out of pocket.

You can leave a request here for a book, or list those you'd be willing to send out.

Obviously this would work on trust, so see the 'feedback thread' for more info.

Great idea, I already have opaque plastic bags that I use when selling my books on ebay, so if anyone wants to borrow one of my books, let me know.

I have books by the following authors available for swap or lend.

Robert Jordan
John Grisham
Robert Goddard
Terry Pratchett
David Brin
Peter F Hamilton
Anne McCaffrey
Jean M Auel
Tad Williams
Jeffery Deaver
Dan Brown
Robin Hobb

Plus many others, ask me - I might have it!

I am looking for more Stephen King or Dean Koontz, and I wouldn't mind trying the Scarpetta novels, in return

Debbie, I have Odd Thomas and The Face if you want to borrow. I'm not in any hurry to get them back, so you could take your time. I can even send both together if you wish. :)

How about a straight swap, rather than mucking about with payment etc.. which Robin Hobb would you suggest I start with?

Hi Michelle, I have read Odd Thomas, (had to with our surname) but would love to try the other one. I would suggest you start with Assassin's Apprentice for Robin Hobb, so I will pm you with my address and get it sent off when I get yours

Michelle

Could I borrow a JD Robb from you please, my local library is useless.

Could I lend the one that you suggested I should start with first?

If there is anything I could swap you in return just let me know!

Cheers

Hi Lou,

I've had an idea. What I do have are 2 'compilation' books, that have 4 stories, with one of them being a 'In Death' story. They're quite a way through the series, so perhaps a few things might not make total sense, but each one is still a story in itself. It'll give you an idea of her writing style, the characters, and the general feel.

Do you want me to pick the best one, and send it to you?

When we started off, the idea of this was actually lending books, not swapping, so I've changed to title. I think both seem to work well on here.. a straight swap if you've finished with the book, or lending out if you want it back.

Just make sure you send books back that you 'borrow'/ ;)

What with postage costs, lending is not such a great idea I think. Straight swapping would work better!

Lending isn't so good for you Mau, I agree. But on occasions it can work here. If someone has a recently published book, I wouldn't mind paying for postage costs there and back. :)

I'm willing to lend any book by Stephen King - you name it, I'm VERY likely to have it :lol ! Same for Peter Straub.

Anyone willing to lend me Devil in Grey? I mean in about 3 months when I've finished reading the 8 new books I've acquired in the last 3 days . . .
